LOVE this recipe. AS IS. I just tried the "helpful hint" of adding more sugar and IMO it ruined the cookies. They were brittle and hard. The recipe in it's original state produces a nice, soft, cakey cookie - which is what I was looking for when I tried it the first time. Having made it dozens of times, the recommended additions were no improvement.
My Advice: Try this recipe as-is first before you go playing with it.
