Glazed Meatloaf I

Very tasty, especially the glaze. Only thing I did differently was sauté the onion in butter first. Stole that idea from the Barefoot Contessa. I would definitely make this again. My pickey husband even liked it.

Chicken and Rice Casserole I

Very tasty. I cut the recipe in half for me and my husband. I also used jasmine rice, added a garlic clove, and omitted the onion soup. I would definitely make again.

Slow-Cooker Barbecue Ribs

I used the this recipe for the cooking instructions (the baking first, then the slow cooker for 6 hours). But I made my own sauce since everyone seemed to dislike the one in the recipe. I smothered the ribs in it once they were placed in the slow cooker. I flipped the ribs half way too. They were outstanding! Fall off the bone! I served then with roasted red skin potatoes too. YUMMY!

Nanna's Banana Bread

Excellent recipe!!!!! Makes tasty and moist banana bread. I especially like it because it only calls for 2 bananas, I never seem to have 3 ripe ones for some reason. Only change I made was I used 1/2 cup light vanilla yogurt instead of buttermilk. It makes it even more moist (and I never have buttermilk on hand). Next time ill try applesauce instead of oil like others have suggested.

Chicken Riggies

Of all the Riggie recipes on Allecipes this one is the closest to the traditional NY recipe. My husband is from Mohawk, NY, near Utica, and this is one of his favorite all time meals. I did make a few changes so that it was more like his sisters recipe. For the peppers I used 3 jalapenos, 1 habanero pepper, and 3 teaspoons of Asian chili garlic sauce (for all of you who thought this needed a kick you should try adding the chili garlic sauce, it makes any dish pop!). I also added a small can of black olives, a small can of mushrooms (you could use fresh), and I increased the the cream to 1 cup (to save calories you could use milk). The key to this recipe is letting it simmer before adding the rigatoni and cream. Just let everything else simmer on low covered in the pan for about 1 - 1 1/2 hours. This makes everything soft and flavorful. Them after an hour or so add the cream, let simmer for 10 minuets. Then cook your rigatoni. Then add the sauce to the cooked rigatoni. Stir well and serve. It's even better the next day after the sauce has absorbed into the rigatoni. Delicious! My Upstate New York Husband loved it!

Stir Fried Snow Peas and Mushrooms

Delicious!!!! I upped the teriyaki sauce to 3 tablespoons and added about an 1/8 teaspoon of pepper and 1/4 teaspoon salt. Gave it a bit more flavor since some of the reviewers thought it was bland. Oh, and I also added about a 1/2 cup of pineapple, it went well with the teriyaki. I served this as a side dish with grilled steaks. Yummy!

Classic Goulash

Very good goulash! I only changed a few details and I decided to half the recipe. I omitted the salt since others said it was too salty; I used 1 1/2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce instead of soy sauce; and upped the macaroni to 1 1/2 cups. It came out great and my husband said "Goulash....Good!", which is quite a compliment.

Creamed Chicken for Biscuits

I made is for my husband who's mother always made chicken and biscuits. He really liked it and said he'd love for me to make it again. I used 2% milk for the cream and boullion instead of broth. It came out very tasty, although I had to add a little extra salt and pepper. I served it over Bisquick biscuits. Will definitely make again.

Cinnamon Raisin Bread II

Very good but came out HUGE. I think it's due to the yeast, next time i will reduce it to just 2 teaspoons. I also soaked the raisins in a teaspoon vanilla extract and a drop of water and i doubled the cinnamon. Its a Very tasty bread. But I was looking for more of a moist dense bread, this is not it.

Chicken and Biscuit Casserole

I made this as written except substituted boullion for broth and corn for the peas. It was good, my husband said he could eat it everyday. But my only thing is that I think baking it all together is pointless. I think the sauce could just be made on the stove, then biscuits in the oven and then sauce just poured over the biscuits. It would save the step of putting it all in a baking dish and baking it. I hate washing those big casserole dishes.

Amazingly Easy Irish Soda Bread

Delicious! Very moist, airy and tasty. I was skeptical since most breads require yeast. I did make a few small changes. I omitted the buttermilk and used 1/2 cup low fat vanilla yogurt and 1/2 cup 2% milk. (Many reviews stated the bread was dry, and I think mine wasn't because of the yogurt.) I also let it sit for about 15 mins before baking to let the ingredients rest (think that's why mine was airy and not too dense). I baked it at 350 for 55 mins. Came out perfect! Next time I might even used less sugar. (I was nicely sweet but would be good less sweet too.)

Curry Stand Chicken Tikka Masala Sauce

This was delicious! We love Indian especially Tikka Masala but in Chicago our favorite restaurant is soooo expensive. I think this will be our new go to when we are craving Indian. The only changes I made was that I used 2 tablespoons of butter instead of ghee, light cream instead of whipping cream (to cut the fat content), upped the cayenne to 1 1/2 teaspoons for more of a kick, 1/4 teaspoon sugar (next time I will omit completely), added 3 small cubed potatoes towards the end of simmering (I cooked them in the microwave first). My husband loves Vindaloo, that's where I got the idea for the potatoes and they were delicious in the sauce. I served it over organic brown basamati rice. My husband was impressed I can cook such delicious Indian food! Quick, easy, and I will definitely make again! We are having the leftovers tonight for dinner, I can't wait!

Good Old Fashioned Pancakes

I have used this recipe many many times. And it's the BEST. If you're looking for a truly homemade yummy pancake this is the one. Sometime I add a little more milk or add blueberries, but otherwise it's perfect as written. One time I made it and realized I didn't have any eggs so I substituted 1 1/2 mashed bananas. It turned out yummy and the banana added a delicious sweetness. This recipe will be a classic in this house for a very long time. Yum!

Tomato-Cream Sauce for Pasta

Thought this was the base for a very good sauce. I used tomato sauce instead of tomatoes since all the reviews stated that the chunks were gross. Omitted the sugar and oregano, I think the basil added enough sweetness. I also added 2 small cooked diced chicken breasts and 1 teaspoon crushed red pepper although more could have been added. I poured it over rigatoni. Delicious! I know I altered the recipe quite a bit, but it's a good starting point to an even better sauce. I also think a few tablespoons vodka (making a vodka sauce) would be delicious! And use fat free half and half or regular whipping cream, heavy cream has way too much fat.

Red Garlic Mashed Potatoes

Delicious and easy! Only thing I did differently was omit the sugar, only used garlic powder, and I used 2% milk. I think the key to this recipe is the steak seasoning. I used a very good quality that was made locally in Chicago, I probably used close to a teaspoon. It was so delicious!

Jo's Rosemary Bread

Made this this evening in my bread maker and did it exactly as written. (I noticed in the reviews many just put it in the oven.) It turned out great and my picky husband loved it too. Very soft and flavorful! I put it in my bread maker at the 1 1/2 lb loaf with a medium crust. PERFECT! And I will definitely make again!

Quick and Easy Chicken Noodle Soup

Made this tonight and it was delicious! I think this will be my go to chicken soup recipe! Only changes I made was I omitted the veggie broth and celery, but only because I didn't have any and i didn't want to make a trip to the store. I served it with Jos Rosemary Bread from this site and it was a fabulous dinner for this cold, windy and snowy night.
