Jeff's Sloppy Joes
After my helpful (but somewhat unthinking) teenage son defrosted FOUR pounds of ground beef for me -- What was he thinking?!!!! -- I was scrambling for ways to use it up, and I came across this recipe. Since I absolutely love chili sauce ("Grama's Sweet Chili Sauce" is my favorite), this was an easy choice. With the exception of using "orange" bell pepper and apple cider vinegar (what I had on hand), and only using half as much (hot) Italian sausage (again, what I had on hand), I followed the recipe (4x!). This was DELICIOUS the first night, and now, about two weeks later, after defrosting the first of two batches that I froze (remember-- I had four pounds of ground beef to work with!), it is even better! So I can attest that this freezes beautifully and is definitely a keeper!

German Chocolate Cake III
This was a LOT of work (many steps, and Lord! so MANY dirty dishes), but while cutting and serving my GORGEOUS, THREE-TIERED MASTERPIECE, I was very proud of the results. I did increase the chocolate to 6 squares as suggested by others, but that was my only deviation from the recipe as written. Although I too would classify this as a "special occasions only" kind of recipe due to its complexity, I would definitely make it again.

Chai Tea Mix
Delicious! I love having this on hand for myself and family, and it makes a really great gift, too. I generally don't like using my coffee grinder for anything other than grinding coffee beans, and my little food processor is just too small to do the job efficiently, but the good ol' blender works GREAT! I put in JUST the powdered milk and spices first, and blend the "bejeepers" out of that. The better you can pulverize the spices, the better they will later dissolve in your cup. (One of these days, I will have to buy myself a second coffee grinder just for spices!) THEN I add in everything else and pulse/blend/stir until it's all well mixed. Although this is a fantastic recipe as written, I too have sometimes increased/added/substituted spices as mentioned by others (white pepper and allspice are great; and more than once I've mistakenly doubled both the cloves and cardamom -- love it all!).
