Strawberry Oatmeal Breakfast Smoothie

Reviewed: Mar. 10, 2004
This is great. I put the oatmeal in the blender and blend it to down to a near powder and then add the rest of the ingredients, using soy or almond milk instead of regular milk. I also usually freeze the banana and I don't use quite so much sugar. It is almost like ice cream and it is not only good but good for you. I added Mexican vanilla last time and it gave it a new taste dimension. I have also used cherry and almond flavoring in the past (just depends upon what fruit I am using). Sooooo GOOD!!!

Cranberry Sauce Chicken II

Reviewed: Jul. 24, 2005
This is great! It's a lot like the recipe that calls for apricot jam, russian dressing and onion soup mix but this one a little tangier. Excellent!!!!

Stuffed Acorn Squash

Reviewed: Oct. 17, 2010
I made this tonight and it was a huge hit. I didn't have chicken broth so I used homeade vegeable broth. I also scored the squash as another reviewer suggested and rubbed the inside of the squash with a bit of brown sugar (my family has a sweet tooth). Also taking another reviewer's suggestions, I mised all the ingredients in a bowl (sugar and the butter that I melted) and then put it in the squash. I didn't have the garlic powder (we go through it a lot and I just happened to be out) and forgot about the onion powder. It was great without these things. Thanks so much for this recipe. It will be used again and again. Oh and I was cooking a brisket and had to hold these in the oven for about 80 minutes and they were fall apart tender. Wouldn't change a thing.

Country Apple Dumplings

Reviewed: Aug. 28, 2010
This is a fantastic recipe!. The tip I would give is to let it sit for about 5 minutes before plating it and then when ready, serve with Ben and Jerry's (or any other brand of ) cinnamon ice cream (Cinnabon is what I used). Plate the dumpling, put the ice cream on ad drizzle some sauce over it all. It is a little slice of heaven. YUM!

Bill's Sausage Gravy

Reviewed: Apr. 25, 2005
This is a wonderful recipe. I have made it with spicy sausage and sage sausage both. I also varied it once and used vegetarian sausage (soy) and Vance's dairy-free milk. Each time it was wonderful!!

Barbie's Tuna Salad

Reviewed: Aug. 18, 2008
Excellent! I served these with the "Nests" from "Birds Nest Egg Salad" found on this site. I added finely chopped celery, a little bit of celery seed and a touch more curry (I love curry!). I also took others advice and did not use all the Mayo at once. I wound up using about 4 T of it. This was a great recipe and with the nests, it makes a great presentation as well. It looks like a lot of work went into it and very little did.

Bird's Nest Egg Salad

Reviewed: Aug. 18, 2008
This is great. The nests are a great addition to any type of salad. The only thing different I did to the salad was add a dash if curry powder and dash of celery seed. It was perfect. I have served the nests with tuna, egg, chicken and turkey salads in them too. They are always a big hit.

Alaskan Halibut Lasagna

Reviewed: Oct. 29, 2010
This is a great recipe. By accident I added to much cheese (too much going on in the kitchen) and it became very oily. I also think my family will like it better with chicken and veggies. That said, this was great just the way it was. I also think I will use fat free swiss cheese or skim swiss cheese. Great recipe! Thanks so much!

Popcorn Salad

Reviewed: Jan. 23, 2008
This is great. I had to leave off the water chestnuts since I am allergic and have had to use Bac'os once but it was still a big hit. I also alter the types of cheeses so that it has a more exotic flavor. It is always the first things to go and the conversation piece. JUST MAKE SURE YOU REMOVE ALL THE KERNALS!!!!

Pashka

Reviewed: Jul. 3, 2005
This was great! I don't like currants and I didnt have almonds so I put a drop of almond flavoring in the mix. I would probably cut down the sugar if I was not going to use the tart currants but it was still really wonderful! Thanks for the recipe Jackie! I will make it often!!!!!

Cocktail Meatballs II

Reviewed: Aug. 18, 2008
I have made this for years and it is very good. I have always called them "Grape Meatballs" so people will raise their eyebrows and be skeptical. Then they taste it and enjoy it. I sometimes put a few crushed saltines or breadcrumbs in the meatballs and it does not change a thing (I do this when I have saltines or breadcrums to use up). I serve these as a main course over saffron rice or wide Amish noodles and they are always a hit.

My Favorite Sesame Noodles

Reviewed: Jun. 8, 2012
Made this once as is...it was fantastic. The next time I used whole wheat noodles. I also used fresh ginger, toasted white and black seeds and tossed them in and then added snow peas, broccoli, red and yellow pepper (chopped fine), ground bhut jolokia powder (I like things super hot) and chopped broccoli. Let it site for 24 hours and then ate it. It was great. I think it needs a little lime juice or balsamic vinegar but even without it....this recipe is great!

Tangy Slow Cooker Pork Roast

Reviewed: Aug. 18, 2008
This was excellent! I think it is the best pork roast slow cooker on here. I put the pork in the crock pot and made the sauce, accidently omitting the vinegar and water (I was in a huge hurry). I rubbed the sauce into the pork and I then went to work. I got a call a about 2 hours later and was told the pork seemed a little dry so I walked a friend how to make the sauce and this time she added the vinegar, poured it over the roast and it was fine. Another friend came in from work, tasted it and his eyes rolled back in his head, he started saying "Oh yeah, yummm" and high fived me several times. Needless to say this recipe is a keeper and will be made often.

Cinnamon-Sugar Popcorn

Excellent. If you have trouble getting the cinnamon mixture to stick, spray the popcorn with butter flavored spray oil and it will stick better. Awesome recipe.

Carrot Souffle

Reviewed: Sep. 15, 2010
This is a fantastic recipe. I added a little of the water the carrots were boiled in (and saved the rest to boil rice in later so we still go the nutrients) to the blender to blend the carrots. I cut down the sugar and since we like a lot of cinnamon in my house I used a lot and this was a HUGE hit and trust me, I actually hate cooked carrots but this was more like a carrot cake taste wise. It will be made often in my house. Thanks so much for this recipe.

Slow Cooker Chicken and Dumplings

Reviewed: Apr. 25, 2005
Wonderful easy recipe. It makes the house smell so good when it is cooking. I added freshly ground pepper to give it a bit of extra zing but everyone loves it I make it for. Once taken up, it does not last long. I have never had leftovers of this. It's eaten up right away.

Slow Cooker Cheesy Potatoes

Reviewed: Sep. 24, 2006
I took the advice of others. I added 8oz of sour cream, a bit of cajun seasoning, salt, pepper and some 'extra hot' seasoning. I also added a can of golden mushroom soup, a can of cream of chicken soup, a small can of mushroom bits and twice the amount of the french onions. My crockpot runneth over LOL but the potatoes were all gonein no time at all. Excellent!!!!! Since then I have added ham cubes and bacon bits to it and it was an even bigger hit!

Cool and Spicy Melon Soup

Reviewed: May 29, 2011
"2 lime juice"? 2 what? Tablespoons, teaspoons, 2 limes? Can someone let me know what this is? I have made soups like this in the past that were amazing (hence the rating because I had to rate it to ask the question). I assume this is 2 T of lime juice but it would be nice to know.
