Scotcharoos

Reviewed: Oct. 27, 2007
I like this recipe but I am not a big butterscotch lover so I replaced the butterscotch with milk chocolate and once with white chocolate. Both times they were excellent and go really fast. My family loves them refrigerated.

Chilled Orange Borscht

Reviewed: Oct. 27, 2007
I gave this a a three. It was very easy and mine was a beautiful color but I think I must have served it to people who were not big pickled beet eaters and it did not go down very well. If you like pickled beets you will love this recipe though.

Slow Cooker Cranberry Roast

Reviewed: Oct. 27, 2007
This is so easy and it tasted wonderful. When we came home the whole house smelled great. I thickened some of the "gravy" and served it over cheesy mashed potatoes and it was a a wonderful meal.

Banana Blast II

Reviewed: Apr. 10, 2007
This is great. If you rub lemon on the bananas and put in the freezer you don't need ice and it is very thick. I also added a little vanilla.

Slow Cooker Cheesy Potatoes

Reviewed: Sep. 24, 2006
I took the advice of others. I added 8oz of sour cream, a bit of cajun seasoning, salt, pepper and some 'extra hot' seasoning. I also added a can of golden mushroom soup, a can of cream of chicken soup, a small can of mushroom bits and twice the amount of the french onions. My crockpot runneth over LOL but the potatoes were all gonein no time at all. Excellent!!!!! Since then I have added ham cubes and bacon bits to it and it was an even bigger hit!

Goat Cheese Pizzas

Reviewed: Jun. 5, 2006
This is really good. The first time I made it I followed the recipe exactly and it was great. The second time I made it I used a flour tortilla as a pizza crust and added feta and parmesan regianno cheese and made a mixture with all the ingredients except the spinach and after laying the spinach leaves down I just spread the mixture on the pizza's and broiled them in the oven. They were great too!

Cranberry Sauce Chicken II

Reviewed: Jul. 24, 2005
This is great! It's a lot like the recipe that calls for apricot jam, russian dressing and onion soup mix but this one a little tangier. Excellent!!!!

New Orleans Barbequed Shrimp

Reviewed: Jul. 9, 2005
This is a wonderful dish. My whole family loved it though complained because the shrimp were not peeled. As a test, I made it with one with a couple of peeled shrimp in the mix and proved my point the shrimp have to be cooked with the shell on. This is wonderful served over saffron rice with crusty Italian bread on the side to dunk in the sauce.

Rushin' Casserole

Reviewed: Jul. 3, 2005
I figured this would be a recipe I either hated or loved but I found it too different to really give a fair rating to. The cinnamon was odd as I am not used to it but was not too bad. I used some homeade Amish noodles that seemed to add to the dish. I also think I would use regular ground beef and not the lean kind. The meat mixture was a little dry. It was not my favorite but I suppose could become so if I try it a few more times. I also like a large amount of garlic in the yogurt but can see where others might not. It was also odd to mix the hot beef/noodle mixture with the yogurt mixture but again, I think it's just something I am not used to. All in all, i am glad I tried it and will try it again.

Pashka

Reviewed: Jul. 3, 2005
This was great! I don't like currants and I didnt have almonds so I put a drop of almond flavoring in the mix. I would probably cut down the sugar if I was not going to use the tart currants but it was still really wonderful! Thanks for the recipe Jackie! I will make it often!!!!!

Irish Breakfast

Reviewed: Jun. 28, 2005
It is not authentic until you add black and white pudding as well as baked beans (which I really hate on my breakfast to be honest). This is more an "Irish American breakfast". Not bad but not Irish. I went to culinary school in Ireland and really....it NEEDS black and white pudding.

Slow Cooker Chicken and Dumplings

Reviewed: Apr. 25, 2005
Wonderful easy recipe. It makes the house smell so good when it is cooking. I added freshly ground pepper to give it a bit of extra zing but everyone loves it I make it for. Once taken up, it does not last long. I have never had leftovers of this. It's eaten up right away.

Mock Tuna Salad

Reviewed: Apr. 25, 2005
This is excellent. I add a bit of kelp (just a dash)to give it that "seafood" taste and some as i used to add curry to my tuna salad, I add a dash of curry too. I also like a little heat so use a habanero mustard in addition to regular spicy brown mustard. I have made it as written and give it 4 1/2 stars but with the added kept and heat, I give it a 5 but that is probably just personal preference. I also use a finely diced red onion as I LOVE onion. I make this at least once ever two weeks and sometimes I serve eat it on toast with lettuce and sometimes with curry or garlic crackers. It ALWAYS hits the spot!

Bill's Sausage Gravy

This is a wonderful recipe. I have made it with spicy sausage and sage sausage both. I also varied it once and used vegetarian sausage (soy) and Vance's dairy-free milk. Each time it was wonderful!!

Sugar Cookies VI

Reviewed: Apr. 25, 2005
These are good and have a wonderful flavor but I the dough becomes really floury very fast. I would also not bake them for the full 10 minutes. I was leaving them in the oven about 7 minutes and that seemd just right but then I was using an older stove and it might run hot.

California Style Israeli Salad

Reviewed: Apr. 25, 2005
This is a wonderful salad. I have made it both with jicama and without. Without it is more traditional and with, a little more modern and more cruncy. I have also used different colors of peppers mixed together to give it a more colorful appearance. It has become my favorite salad.
