Candy Cane Fudge

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2006
Very easy and yummy recipe. I omitted the food coloring and sprinkled crushed candy canes on top. I will definitely make this again.

Cinnamon Chip Apple Cookies

Reviewed: Jan. 1, 2006
These were very yummy cookies. My daughter had to bring something made with apples to her preschool and I made these cookies for her to share. One other mommy commented a few days later that her son said that Abby's mommy brought cookies to school and they were better than the his mommy's cookies! I grated the apples and personally think the amount of apples could be increased to get a more "apple-y" flavor, but all in all this is a delicious recipe and a nice change from regular oatmeal cookies.

Cocoa Rum Balls

Reviewed: Jan. 1, 2006
I made these rum balls for one of our Christmas dessert items and it was a hit. Even our resident "rum ball maker" who hasn't made them in a few years complimented my efforts. I will definitely make them again. They did taste better after a few days (I'd made them four days ahead of time and taste-tested one a day to see if I could tell the difference!) I didn't quite make as many rum balls as the recipe said it would make, though. I think I ended up with 30 total. In any case, this is another keeper!!!

Easy Rum Cake

Reviewed: Jan. 1, 2006
This cake was delicious! I made it for one of our Christmas desserts, and everyone said it was great. I used salted mixed nuts and made sure I thoroughly greased the Bundt pan (I've had problems getting cakes to come out of it "nicely" in the past). The cake looked beautiful and tasted yummy. The rum flavor was strong, but it wasn't overpowering - after all, it is a RUM cake! This is definitely a keeper and I look forward to experimenting with different flavors (e.g. chocolate cake or spice cake).

Creamy Fruit Salad I

Reviewed: Apr. 26, 2004
Excellent recipe. I had to double the recipe since it was for a potluck-type affair, and it turned out great. It was one of the first salads to be completely eaten. This is definitely a keeper and I'll make it again! Thanks

Strawberry Pretzel Salad

Reviewed: Apr. 24, 2004
This recipe was excellent! I made it for our daugther's first birthday as part of the menu, and everyone absolutely loved it. The only change I made was that I pureed the strawberries in a food processor and then added it to the gelatin. I think next time I make it, I'll make the gelatin layer first since it took quite some time to cool off. The pretzel crust didn't get soggy, even after 3 days and we've enjoyed the leftovers. This is definitely a recipe I'll make again and again.

Sausage Gravy I

Reviewed: Mar. 6, 2004
This is an excellent, tasty recipe. I made it for the first time three years ago for our family Christmas breakfast and it was an instant hit. Now it's part of our yearly menu. I found that at times I have to add more salt, depending on where I bought the sausage, but that can easily be tested by the cook. It works well making it a couple of hours ahead of time and putting it in a crockpot until ready to serve.
