My favorite things to cook
Anything Hungarian, from Main Dishes to Desserts. Also Very Spicy Foods, Baking is my Favorite, especially my Gran's Apple Cream Pie. I grew up with my grandmother always Baking or cooking big pots for dinner on the stove. Our holidays were the best, so much food, and the desserts were amazing. So now I try to do the same for my own family, and to teach my 3 girls and son how to cook traditional and non-traditional foods. We have a blast.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Every Summer getting All the Cabbage, Peppers (Hot & Sweet) from my Dad's Garden and making Ton's of Real Hungarian Stuffed Cabbage and Stuffed Pepper's along with Szekagoulas. Eating, and then freezing quanities for the Winter Months. real Puerto Rican Rice and beans, or Chicken and Rice, or making fresh Pastallieos, Or Duelce De Lachosa (fruit candy).I make homemade White grape Jam from my dad's grapevines, or Cherry Jam from the massive cherry tree in the Backyard. Oooh Summer is coming again and we all cant wait.
My cooking triumphs
My Daughter Anissa had a Book Report to do on a Specific Animal, a Penguin. And also had to make a Art Project which included the Animal in it. So being the Great Mom That I am, We made
a Penguin Cake, by creating Penguin's out of Marzaipan, and completely Decorated the Cake with Water and snow mountains, and playful Penguin's. Anissa recieved an A+ for the Great job she and my youngest daughter, Kaman had done.
My cooking tragedies
I was Baking Garlic butter Chicken in my new oven. My daughter home sick in her bed, our ADT Smoke Alarm went off, I live in New York, and this alarm could have waken the President in Washington D.C., thats how loud it is. So I check the Chicken, and even though it was covered in foil, the juices were dripping. So i clean it up the best I could, I also tried to stop the alarm, it took awhile but after pressing every button, I stop it. All the sudden I hear Fire Engines, I ask my daughter to look out the window to see where they were going, and she said "To our house Mommy". I almost died, alittle spilled garlic butter, and I got Firemen. They came in I told them it was just a spillage in the oven, A Fireman got on the Radio and tells Dispatch " It's only a women BURNING Dinner". I was pissed, and told him it wasnt burnt, and they laughed. The Garlic Butter Chicken was awesome. And now I have A great story to tell..
