Classic Goulash

Reviewed: Apr. 29, 2015
Very good goulash recipe! Followed recipe as written other than halving it since there are only two of us and only cooking for 10 minutes after the macaroni was added. When reading recipe ingredients before trying it, was a little bit skeptical on ingredients, but again it turned out great! We both loved it! Thanks for posting!

Stef's Super Cheesy Garlic Bread

Reviewed: Apr. 29, 2015
OMG!! Followed the recipe exactly other than halving since there are only two of us. This recipe was AWESOME but probably won't make again simply because it's not a healthy side...but had to try it...and so glad I did

Mom's Red Scalloped Potatoes

Reviewed: Apr. 26, 2015
This recipe was ok but not one I'll try again. Did follow the recipe other than just halving it since there are only two of us. Also, cooked potatoes an additional 20 minutes per other reviewers' suggestions (actually should have added at least 30-45 additional minutes as potatoes were slightly undercooked even with the additional time). Way too rich for our tastes. Thanks for posting though - love trying new recipes.

Gravy Baked Pork Chops

Reviewed: Apr. 23, 2015
Followed recipe as written with exception of doubling gravy. Pork chops were ok but came out too tough for our liking. Not a keeper for us. Thanks though for posting. Like trying different recipes.

Salisbury Steak with Mushrooms

Reviewed: Apr. 22, 2015
VERY GOOD as written other than we like having our mushrooms and onions softer...so once we took patties out to keep warm, cooked them about 10 additional minutes than recipe specified (covered lid) before adding cornstarch and water. Again, great recipe! Thanks for posting!

Quick and Easy Green Chile Chicken Enchilada Casserole

Reviewed: Apr. 1, 2015
OMG!! This recipe was SO GOOD!! And easy!! Since their are only two of us, I did make a few modifications but tried to stay as true to the recipe as possible. Instead of chicken breasts, I used the meat from a precooked rotisserie chicken instead and omitted the garlic salt. Tore 6 corn tortillas into quarters, used a 15 ounce can green chile enchilada sauce, used 8 ounce package shredded Monterrey Jack cheese, and 1/2 carton--4 ounces--sour cream. Followed recipe to layer ingredients and baked at same temp/time suggested. Again, could not have dreamed how good this would be! Thank you so much for posting!!!

Oven-Fried Pork Chops

Reviewed: Mar. 24, 2015
Really liked this recipe...so simple and tasty! I ran out of milk so I, like other reviewers, just rinsed the pork chops with water and sprinkled them with garlic salt and pepper. Then dipped them in two beaten eggs and then in Italian Seasoned bread crumbs. Also, when preheating the oven to 400 (not 425 as suggested), let the butter melt during the preheating. Then put the the pork chops in the baking dish and baked per instructions. Did cut the cooking time down though...after 10 minutes and flipping them, cooked them for only a few more minutes...then checked them with a temperature thermometer...they were done! Very surprised...thought they'd take longer since I could only find the boneless thick cut pork chops at the store. Key, as others have said, is to not overcook the chops. They came out tender and tasty. Next time will maybe try the stuffing per the instructions but didn't have any on hand tonight. Great recipe! Thanks for sharing!

Beef Au Jus

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2014
Made this yesterday (as written) to serve with the "Foolproof Rib Roast". Would definitely omit the salt because rib roast rubs in general are salty. There was also a comment in the recipe to refer to the "footnote", but I couldn't find it. Also didn't care for the "cloudy" look of the au jus--used to a clear one. The taste over all was very good. Next time will either reduce or eliminate the flour. Overall though a very good recipe!!

Foolproof Rib Roast

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2014
My husband and I made this yesterday for our Christmas dinner. This was the first time in our 44 years of marriage that we had attempted to cook a standing rib roast (and we love to cook :). It turned out AWESOME!! Followed recipe as written. So easy. Only downside is--the oven is basically tied up all day cooking the roast so need to find alternative dishes/methods that don't need the use of the oven (i.e., slow cooker, microwave). Thank you SO MUCH for posting!! This is now our fav new Christmas dinner treat!!

Spinach Cheese Manicotti

Reviewed: Nov. 28, 2014
Followed recipe as written. Very good but next time will probably either cut onion amount in half or eliminate it all together. Used Ragu Original Sauce. Liked that I didn't have to pre-cook the manicotti...made it much easier to fill with the mixture. Thanks for posting!

Cheddar Bay Biscuits

Yummy as written. Wished I had looked at other reviews before making. When I make them next time, will substitute milk for the water and add the Old Bay Seasoning. Definitely a keeper!

Slow Cooker, Easy Baked Potato Soup

Reviewed: Nov. 5, 2014
Followed recipe as written. My husband and I really liked it. Only change I would personally make would be to reduce red onion by half. A bit too much of an onion taste for us. But, again, overall good. Thanks for posting.

Super Stuffed Meatloaf

Reviewed: Nov. 4, 2014
Followed recipe but came out way too dry. Knew when mixing that this was going to be the case, so added additional milk to moisten meat. Didn't help. Served with ketchup just to moisten meat some but definitely won't make this again.

Garlicky Potatoes

Reviewed: Nov. 3, 2014
Made this recipe as written other than cutting recipe in half. It came out OK, but probably a bit too garlicky for our taste. Will probably try making again but will greatly reduce and/or eliminate garlic.

Three Cheese Manicotti

Reviewed: Oct. 11, 2014
This was a really good recipe...even though I messed up thinking I was using mozzarella but instead had accidentally substituted Monterrey Jack by mistake. Based on other viewer comments, I did add garlic salt, garlic powder and Italian seasoning (1/2 teaspoon each), but otherwise followed recipe as written. Have decided it really doesn't matter which cheese you use...really good with any one or more of them. Great recipe...thanks for posting!!

Hamburger Steak with Onions and Gravy

Reviewed: Aug. 19, 2014
Made this recipe as written other than substituting olive oil for the vegetable oil. It was OK, but nothing special. Once I took the hamburger patties out and added the flour, found the gravy to be way too thick. Used additional beef broth to try to dilute it. Again, the final result was OK, but I won't be making it again.

Restaurant-Style Coleslaw I

Reviewed: Aug. 15, 2014
When I was mixing up everything, started having doubts about the recipe. Boy was I wrong! This cole slaw recipe was WONDERFUL! My husband is picky about not wanting too sweet of taste. He LOVED this! I've never made cole slaw...he kept asking me-- are you sure YOU made it and didn't buy it pre-made? What a compliment! Followed recipe as written and would highly recommend this recipe! I did make it in the morning and left it all day in the refrigerator. Think that probably improved the taste. Thanks for posting this recipe!! Now one of our fav "go to" recipes :-)

Melt-in-Your-Mouth Slow Cooker Chicken

Reviewed: Aug. 13, 2014
This was a horrible recipe. I followed the recipe as written except for cutting back to 1/2 teaspoon cumin based on another reviewer's comments and I omitted the optional malt vinegar.

Incredible Red Smashed Potatoes

Reviewed: Jul. 17, 2014
Followed recipe other than halving since there's only two of us. Great recipe! Like another reviewer suggested, would just mash potatoes next time versus using beater--potatoes came out looking too soupy. But again, the flavor was awesome! Thanks for posting!
