Big Soft Ginger Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 4, 2008
These cookies are fantastic and will definitely go into my permanent recipe file! The entire batch was gone the next day. I made the recipe exactly as written, and although the dough was a little sticky and difficult to handle, everything was worth it when the cookies came out of the oven. Thank you!

Pumpkin Cookies with Penuche Frosting

Reviewed: Nov. 30, 2008
These were *so* yummy and the perfect thing to eat on our cold, drizzly days. I baked the batter in a glass 13x9 pan for 25 mins. and the bars were perfect -- moist, and a nice balance between cake-like and fudgy. The frosting is fantastic and works so well with the pumpkin. Great recipe!

Cute, easy recipe. My three-year-old loved the little mummies. Thanks!

French Dip Sandwiches

Reviewed: Nov. 23, 2008
Wonderful recipe, but I wish there would have been more 'au jus'! We ran out of juice well before we ran out of meat. I used one can of beef broth instead of water, so next time I'll add an extra can. Thanks for the recipe!

White Chocolate Blondies

Reviewed: Nov. 23, 2008
I was really disappointed with this recipe. The flavor was very odd and the texture was cake-like, yet somewhat rubbery at the same time. I will stick with my regular blondie recipe because although I'm a huge white-chocolate fan, these blondies just didn't deliver.

Nutty Pumpkin Waffles

Reviewed: Nov. 19, 2008
This is my first time making these waffles. They were absolutely delicious and made the kitchen smell heavenly, but you couldn't taste the pumpkin (hence the four stars). Next time I make this, I will make the pumpkin sauce as well and see if it brings out the flavor of the pumpkin in the waffles. It's a keeper recipe -- the waffles were crispy on the outside and light, fluffy and spicy on the inside. Wonderful on a cold morning!

Old Fashioned Paradise Pumpkin Pie

Reviewed: Nov. 17, 2008
This pie was gone in a flash -- my kids raved about it, and my picky three year old ate it and he's not a fan of pumpkin pie. I left off the pecans because the kids won't eat nuts, but the pie came out perfectly and the recipe didn't need any changes. Thanks!

Chewy Peanut Butter Brownies

Reviewed: Nov. 17, 2008
I made these as written except used an 8x8 pan. They were *so* yummy! I baked them for 26 mins. and they turned out fantastic. Coated in Chocolate Frosting I, this recipe is definitely a keeper! Thanks!

Three Bean Salad I

Reviewed: Nov. 4, 2008
I've tried a lot of three bean salad recipes over the years, and this one definitely tops them all. I made the recipe as written except that I omitted the cilantro, and I thought it was *so* good! Definitely a keeper -- thanks for the recipe!

Double Layer Pumpkin Pie

Reviewed: Oct. 24, 2008
This recipe was very easy to make and the pie looks very pretty, but I guess I can't get used to the idea of a no-bake pumpkin pie. The cloves were way too strong for the pumpkin layer, and the pumpkin layer also just tasted way too 'raw' for me (although I did like the bottom cream cheese layer).

Spinach Quiche

Reviewed: Oct. 24, 2008
Wow! This quiche is fantastic! I used only 3 T. of butter after reading some other reviews, and it turned out great, although I couldn't use all the egg mixture because it overflowed the crust. My daughter looked at her plate, said, "I don't like spinach," and then proceeded to eat the whole thing. The whole family loved it. Thanks for a great recipe!

Best Ever Chocolate Cutout Cookies

Reviewed: Oct. 23, 2008
Wow! These are *so* yummy! I added a teaspoon of vanilla to the dough, and my dough was very stiff (my hand-held mixer was having trouble with it and, needless to say, it needed no refrigeration), but my kitchen smelled heavenly while the cookies were baking. I baked the first batch for seven minutes, but found after they cooled that they were a little too hard for my liking, so I baked the second batch for 6 minutes. Perfect! Thanks for the great recipe -- it's a keeper!

Old Fashioned Potato Salad

Reviewed: Oct. 19, 2008
I very much liked this potato salad. It was just what I was looking for: something simple, easy to make, no fancy ingredients, and nice flavor. However, I give it four stars because it lacked a little 'zing.' It was very mild, and I prefer a peppier potato salad. Also, there wasn't enough 'sauce' for five big potatoes. Next time I will increase the amount of sauce or decrease the number of potatoes, and add something to give the salad a little bite. Thanks for the recipe!

Cheddar Bay Biscuits

Reviewed: Jul. 6, 2007
I made these biscuits last night and my picky children thought they were very good! I doubled the cheese because 3 oz. didn't appear to be nearly enough, and I was pretty generous with the herbs. I brushed the biscuits with the butter mixture halfway through baking and also when the biscuits were done. I wouldn't say the biscuits were as light as the ones at the restaurant (perhaps because of all the extra cheese I added), but they still were extremely tasty, and this recipe will go into my permanent file. Thank you!

Slow Cooker Mashed Potatoes

Reviewed: Jan. 28, 2007
These potatoes were wonderful -- my daughter ate them even though she despises all potatoes except fries. I used half the amount of butter called for, and they were still very creamy and flavorful. However, like some reviewers have said, they did indeed taste better to me as leftovers the next day (although there wasn't much leftover after my husband got done with them). Thanks for the recipe!

Cranberry Nut Muffins

Reviewed: Jan. 26, 2007
I tried this recipe because I *love* cardamom. However, I felt that the amount of cloves in this recipe was a tad excessive and eclipsed the taste of the cardamom. I would have liked to have had a little less clove and perhaps a little more of those spices that traditionally accompany the cloves (cinnamon, nutmeg, etc.) However, the muffins were very moist, with a nice crispy muffin top, and they were quite tasty. My son gobbled one up every morning with breakfast! Thanks for the recipe!

Slow-Cooker Chicken Tortilla Soup

Reviewed: Dec. 22, 2006
This recipe was *wonderful*! My husband raved about it again and again and the leftovers were gone in a flash. This will be a definite addition to my permanent recipe collection. I did add a can of black beans; also I used a can of diced tomatoes with chilies instead of plain tomatoes. I used all chicken broth instead of water/chicken broth and garnished the soup with sour cream before serving. Heavenly!!!

Rolled Buttercream Fondant

Reviewed: Jun. 14, 2006
I made this with my eight-year-old after being disappointed with store-bought fondant. It was very easy to make and tastes *good*. I added food coloring to it to decorate my son's birthday cake and I love it. I will definitely use this recipe again!
