Chicken Fried Chicken

Reviewed: May 30, 2009
I made the recipe as written, except dipped the chicken in flour first as other reviewers suggested, and cut the breasts into strips instead of frying the breast whole. Absolutely *awesome*! So flavorful! My daughter and her friends ate almost the whole batch and left one strip for me. Definitely a recipe I will make again ... and again!

Delightful Apple Spice Muffins

Reviewed: May 27, 2009
The texture of these muffins was great and they're still incredibly moist a day and a half after baking. However, I felt the taste was really lacking. It seems other reviewers felt the same way, since most of them made some pretty drastic changes to the recipe. I followed the recipe exactly, and as it's written it's pretty bland and forgettable. Perhaps I will try some of the changes in the future.

Cinnamon-Raisin Granola

Reviewed: May 23, 2009
I just finished off a huge bowl of this GREAT granola! I wanted a nice, basic granola recipe without nuts, and this was just what I was looking for. It's delicious, better than store-bought, and made the kitchen smell fantastic while baking.

Slow Cooker Salisbury Steak

Reviewed: May 21, 2009
This was just okay. My three-year-old loved it and asked for seconds, but I found it way too salty and the flavor reminiscent of a salisbury steak TV dinner.

Orange Breakfast Rolls

Reviewed: May 21, 2009
These were a scrumptious alternative to a cinnamon roll. I made a 1 lb. recipe of white bread dough in my bread machine, rolled it out and spread it with the orange filling (doubled). I rolled it up jelly-roll style, cut into rolls, let them rise, and baked them. So yummy! The kids *loved* them!

Sweet, Sticky and Spicy Chicken

Reviewed: May 21, 2009
We really enjoyed this chicken. It was all that the title promised: sweet, sticky, and spicy. It tasted wonderful over a bed of rice and there were no leftovers. Yum!

Disappearing Marshmallow Brownies

Reviewed: May 19, 2009
These were good, but average. The recommended baking time was way too short. I baked them for 25 mins. and they turned out fine, but it would have been easy to over- or under-bake them. I probably won't be making these again; there are better blonde brownie recipes out there.

Whole Grain Waffles

Reviewed: May 10, 2009
Super, delicious, light and fluffy waffles! My old healthy-waffle recipe is no more -- this will be my go-to recipe from now on. The taste is outstanding! I was a little scared because the batter was a little runny and lumpy, but when the waffles were done ... wow! Great recipe!

Caramel Bars

Reviewed: May 9, 2009
I made these last night and now half of them are gone! I used more than half of the oat mixture to cover the bottom of my 13x9 pan and I doubled the chocolate chips, but other than those changes, I made the recipe as written and they turned out really well -- nice and rich and chewy and the perfect consistency.

Blondies II

Reviewed: May 9, 2009
These turned out *so* good! So moist, so delicious, and the frosting on top went perfectly with the bar. A definite keeper recipe.

Real Italian Calzones

Reviewed: May 9, 2009
Delicious! I added more flour to the dough because it was pretty goopy, but other than that I made the recipe exactly as written.

Buttery Soft Pretzels

Reviewed: May 9, 2009
These were very yummy, and I followed the advice of several others and only used 4 c. of flour. I don't think I rolled them thin enough, though, because they baked up very thick and somewhat doughy in the middle. Also, next time I will line my baking sheets with parchment paper because they got a little dark on the bottom. But I will make this recipe again because they did taste great!

Chocolate Waffles I

Reviewed: Apr. 28, 2009
These turned out a little tough, and the chocolate flavor was hard to detect. I love waffles, but I don't think I will be making these again.

Jiffy Cinnamon Rolls

Not as good as a yeasted cinnamon roll, but still super-yummy when you need cinnamon rolls in a hurry! Great recipe.

Apple Pumpkin Muffins

Reviewed: Apr. 23, 2009
These muffins are already gone -- they were a huge hit at breakfast! I grated the apple on a box grater instead of dicing (to save time) and the muffins turned out incredibly moist and delicious. The streusel topping gave them a nice crunchy top. Perfect!

Spaghetti Carbonara II

Reviewed: Apr. 23, 2009
Delicious! I only used 8 oz. of spaghetti because I knew a pound would be way too much for my family, so I used only 2 eggs but kept the rest of the recipe the same. Will definitely make again!

Crispy Orange Beef

Reviewed: Apr. 9, 2009
This took quite a while to make, but it was so worth it! I made these changes: (1) Doubled the sauce but not the salt; (2) Dipped the beef in flour, then egg, then flour again; and (3) Used 1/3 c. freshly squeezed OJ instead of concentrate. Half my family thought it was too sweet, and half thought it was just right, so next time I will halve the sugar and see how it turns out. I even used a cheap cut of meat and it still turned out amazingly yummy. Super recipe!

Decadent Pumpkin Muffins

Reviewed: Apr. 3, 2009
The texture of these muffins was rubbery and the taste was flat. They stuck to the muffin liners so half the muffin was left on the paper. Sorry, but I won't be making these again.
