I am 44 years old and I have enjoyed cooking and baking since my pre-teen years. My mom bought me a Holly Hobby cook book when I was 10 years old. It came comeplete with pictures, illustrations, step-by-step instructions and Holly's helpful hints section. I prepared most of the recipes with giddy delight (with mom's help). I learned a lot from Holly as well as my mom. I have both of them to thank for my love of cooking and baking. A disire to learn to cook was born in me from those special times spent in the kitchen. I still have my H.H. cookbook today, and I cherish the memories I have!
My favorite things to cook
Among my favorite things to cook are, omlettes (for breakfast and dinner), pizza, pasta dishes with a variety of meats, mashed potato's and creating my own sauces and meat dishes. I also love to make sugar cookies and create fun shapes, then decorate them. I LOVE to decorate cakes! I enjoy being creative with recipes or my own ideas for any meal!
My favorite family cooking traditions
My favorite traditions are tucked away in my memories of life as a child. As a young child, I remember feelings of warmth and comfort and a happy atmosphere every sunday, when before church, we ate a "continental breakfast". After church,my mom made pancakes by scratch. She used gramma's recipe-always! Dad made the bacon and a huge omlette in his largest skillet. This was deamed our family's "sunday brunch." My brothers usually had a contest to see who could eat the most pancakes!
My cooking triumphs
Usually my cakes are quite popular in taste as well as design. My pasta dishes are well appreciated as well.
My cooking tragedies
Sometimes my dishes just don't turn out. I'll have to give it more thought for specifics. I know there are a few.
