About this Cook
I love to cook, especially for a big crowd. I have trouble making small meals. I see recipes as a guidline, and my cooking style is pretty much a free for all.
My favorite things to cook
I love ethnic cooking. I'm a Heinz 57 myself, so trying recipes from different cultures makes me happy.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Anything, really. Life's too short, just have fun.
My cooking triumphs
I am a master baker and cake decorator. I love trying new things. I can patiently spend eight hours mastering new techniques. And I'm the first one my friends call when they need desserts. Ironically, I don't like cake.
My cooking tragedies
Pretty much anything that involves worcestershire sauce. It's vile. Also, I don't do anything that lives in water. Not for lack of trying to like it, but yuck.

Grandad's Pancakes
The only pancake recipe you really need. This recipe is simple, but as noted in other reviews, the batter is a bit liquidy. I just added flour a little at a time until the consistency was right. I also added a tablespoon of Ronald Reginald's vanilla bean marinade. These pancakes rose quite a bit and were fluffy and light. So many pancakes end up very heavy, but definitely not these. I don't think I'll ever go back to my family recipe again!

Bacon Cookies
This has got to be one of my favorite cookie recipes. I have a hard time getting people to try them, but once they do, they love them. They are a savory cookie, just a hint of sweetness. And in the end, if no one wants them, more for me!

I lost my recipe this year. I couldn't remember if I got it out of a cookbook or this website. But I distinctly remember it being all splotched up, so this is it. For those Germans who have grown up with pfeffernusse, this recipe is a killer! I have friends and relatives who only remember this cookie from growing up. I know my Oma made them. This recipe truly rocks as is, and makes a ton. Eat them yourself or give them away. Tasty tasty tasty!
