Cuban Ropa Vieja

This is a great recipe, but it definitely needs the two packets of sazon during the final hour. Its best if you can make it the day before and let it cool in the fridge so the flavors combine. I like to add extra onion. I added extra pepper one time and it came out with too much of a pepper flavor, so keep it to the reocmmended amount. Delicioso!

Apple Pie by Grandma Ople

I've made this pie many times, and I get nothing but rave reviews. Perfect like it is, but definitely messy. I would put some of the liquid in midway in the pie and then pour the rest over top through the lattice work. DO NOT cook this without a foil lined pan below it, it will spill over.

Rocky Road Ice Cream

The flavor is dead on with this one. It is delicious. My only comment is that the texture is slightly off and when you freeze it is becomes noticiable. I'm not sure how to correct this without making it less diet-friendly. Thanks for the recipe!

Marie's Easy Slow Cooker Pot Roast

This was good. The roast was ultra tender, and I found that if you put the potatoes on top of the meat it keeps them from getting very mushy. I added a lot of seasoning to the meat and browned it, but in retrospect, I would have marinated it like another user suggested. I didn't feel the meat had that much flavor. I used beef stock in lieu of water which helped. I would also recommend adding about another cup of liquid and trimming off large pieces of fat prior to cooking to avoid greasiness. I will definitely make again, but I will marinate the meat overnight next time. Also, making the gravy from the liquid and the drippings adds a lot of flavor.
