I'm 24 years old and trying to improve my cooking as much as possible through trial and error. I am considering pursuing a degree in culinary arts.
My favorite things to cook
I have grown pretty fond of cooking with boneless center cut loin chops. I use them sliced up in stir fries, topped with mushrooms sauteed with garlic and butter, or just a tasty simple seasoning [garlic powder, onion powder, chili powder, paprika, salt, pepper]. I also enjoy making tilapia using similar seasonings, occasionally w/ some cilantro added. I'd like to learn more recipes with chicken.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I am of Hispanic descent so I grew up with some wonderful Mexican foods: menudo, barbacoa, pozole, tamales, tacos, all with a Tex-Mex twist. These dishes are a little nostalgic for me - they remind me of growing up and enjoying dinners with my family.
My cooking triumphs
I've made certain dishes I was very proud of. My stuffed jumbo shells with a ricotta-mozzarella spinach filling with a mushroom marinara sauce was a big hit. I also made some great fried flounder that even my picky brother loved.
My cooking tragedies
Baking has always been the area I had the most trouble with. I've created many a bland, oddly textured cake or cookie but I've improved a bit with time. ;)
