Spicy Hot Chicken Legs

Reviewed: Jan. 13, 2013
i didn't want to have to crisp them up, like reviews said, to serve it as drumsticks, which is what you expect from drumsticks. instead, i changed up the recipe for a one-pot meal. i filled the crockpot with a large head of sliced cabbage and topped it with chicken thighs, seasoned with the onion powder, garlic powder and frank's red hot (no butter - and i didn't miss it). it was reallllly good and i served it with rolls. the juice that comes out while slow cooking makes it good to dip the rolls in. it's kind of like an open faced buffalo chicken sandwich... it's not a pretty meal, but it's delicious and REALLY easy!

Chicken Enchiladas Suizas

Reviewed: Nov. 4, 2011
Enchiladas Suizas is my favorite dish from my local Mexican restaurant and even though theyre not the same, they are still really good! I definitely will be making my own changes to tailor it to my tastes, but I would happily make the original recipe again too. Makes a lot of food too!

Amy's Garlic Egg Chicken

Reviewed: Sep. 22, 2011
Good! I liked it and I'll definitely make it again, but it wasn't anything that really wowed me. I love garlic, so I liked the garliciness. Definitely too much butter though. I only used 4 tablespoons and thought 2, or just enough to coat the bottom of a smaller baking dish would have been perfect.

Steve's Chicken Korma

Reviewed: Feb. 10, 2010
i must have done something wrong, because this was really lackluster. every indian dish ive tried to make at home has always been so-so. i think i need an indian person to teach me! hopefully others have better luck than i did. i was so disappointed, particularly because i was so excited to eat it.

Swedish Pancakes

Reviewed: Sep. 5, 2009
I dont really see how these are different from crepes. I feel the batter must be thinner, so that when you turn the pan, it spreads more easily so you can have a very thin pancake. Mine are thicker, not at all like the lacy pancakes I get at a local pancakes house. I enjoyed them as crepes, but I may add more milk to these in the future to see if I can get that thin lace-like pancake.

Braised Balsamic Chicken

Reviewed: Feb. 17, 2009
I wish I had read the reviews regarding the tanginess of the balsamic before I cooked this; I don't have any regrets, I loved the flavor, but it was certainly tart, which I would have liked to have been toned down a little. I was hoping the sauce would be more a reduction, so I may just reduce the sauce alone to have with the leftovers. In order to keep the chicken tender, I dredged the chicken w/ salt/pepp/garlic powder/flour. I happened to be baking cauliflower mashed "potatoes" to serve with this, so instead of simmering in the pan, I browned the chicken in the pan w/ the onions but cooked the rest of the way in a 350 oven for about 20 min. It looked beautiful coming out with the tomatoes and onions browned on top. Def a keeper, but one that I would like to tweak to suit my own tastes in the future, probably just to make it less tangy (with the addition of a bit of brown sugar) and make a reduction sauce.

Carrot Burgers

Reviewed: Feb. 26, 2008
i was skeptical even with all the reviews, esp. cuz carrots arent my fave, but i was surprised! i used half a mystery cereal i had and half rice krispies. i also accidently burned the burgers a tad, but it made for a crunchy outside and a soft inside, yum. the only thing was that the burgers were really small. next time, ill add extra carrots, maybe twice as much. very versatile, lots of room for experimenting.

i really enjoyed this. i just happened to have a bag of spinach and a huge excess of navel oranges. i really really liked how simple it was, but delicious and fresh. i will use this dressing from now on for any salad.

Warm Apple Buttermilk Custard Pie

Reviewed: Jul. 3, 2007
i made this pie for my boyfriend's family and they absolutely loved it. the only thing is, there was way too much buttermilk mixture and it overflowed and made like a crust on the pie tin and dripped... maybe less buttermilk mixture... im not complaining because it was still delicious!

Savory Onion Bread

Reviewed: Jun. 17, 2007
i liked this recipe, but not as a bread. it has the texture of a biscuit, so i will make it again in a muffin tin or just as small mounds on a cookie sheet as biscuits.

Teena's Spicy Pesto Chicken and Pasta

Reviewed: Jun. 12, 2006
im going to be honest, i was really disappointed... it was very bland. i usually read the reviews ahead of time, but i didnt until after i made it. i added some more salt, onion powder, oregano, basil, and fresh ground pepper, about 1/2 tsp-1 tsp each and it helped the flavor a lot. i will probably saute some vegetables and mix it in/have it as a side to enhance the flavor.

Portobello Sandwiches

Reviewed: May 31, 2005
very good. i made it for my vegan sister. i just added capers (and grilled red onions) on top and put a layer of chopped parsley in too. to solve the soggy-ness, i grilled the mushroom in a george forman grill, reserving the juice for soup. right before putting the mushroom on the bun (which i had sprayed with pam and lightly grilled) i let it drip a little and it resulted in a perfectly juicy burger, but dry bun. and i used rosemary instead of thyme.
