Russian Cabbage Borscht

Reviewed: Mar. 13, 2014
I'm glad I gave this a try - It was delicious! I served it with Greek yogurt and sour cream. I never used dill in Borscht before, and am pleasantly surprised.

Best Bread Pudding with Vanilla Sauce

Reviewed: Jan. 15, 2014
This recipe is perfection! Here in Texas, we eat bread pudding for breakfast, so I did make slight changes to make it a breakfast pudding. I skipped the white sugar and used 3/4 cup of brown sugar instead. We use almond milk in our family, so I used almond milk instead of milk, and it turned out just perfect. I had some bread from Sprouts that was made with walnuts, raisins, dried cranberries, and cinnamon. This bread was going to mold if I didn't use it up (we got it in the clearance for a dollar!), so this is what I used. I didn't need to add any raisins, because this bread is just packed with them. I did add a chopped honeycrisp apple, though. I made it in my dutch oven, which worked perfectly. The sauce is delicious! I can't stop tasting it. I added a tablespoon of coconut oil to it just for the heck of it (I need to add weight to my adult son, so making it higher calorie was a good idea). To keep the sauce from being lumpy, and to keep it smooth, I wisked it the entire time it was cooking - just like you would do a good gravy. It is perfectly smooth and saucy. I will be making this again... and again and again and again.

French Onion Soup Gratinee

Reviewed: May 9, 2013
I made this using veggie broths instead of meat broths (we are vegetarian) and it was delicious! We didn't even have any leftovers.

Mayonnaise Biscuits

Reviewed: Jan. 9, 2013
Delicious! I'm a "Miracle Whip" girl myself, so I used that instead of actual mayo. They were perfect this way. I don't have self-rising flour, so used the flour, salt, and baking powder that others have mentioned. They even got the seal of approval from little miss picky pants.

Bread Pudding II

This turned out awesome! I used home-made bread that I made the previous day, and added a little pureed pumpkin and pumpkin pie spice. It was devine.

Oat Whole Wheat Bread

Reviewed: Oct. 9, 2012
I have been making bread for over 15 years now, and this is the best one I've ever made! It was gone within an hour because everybody loved it. I'm about to make more now, and will probably make it regularly. I did add some wheat gluten because I always do, and a tablespoon of honey. This would make a perfect base bread. You could add rosemary, garlic and oregano for an Italian seasoned bread. You could add cinnamon, sugar, and vanilla for a breakfast-y bread. The possibilities are endless!

Pumpkin Pancakes

Reviewed: Sep. 22, 2012
These were delicious and turned out perfectly! The second time I made them, I used oat flour for half of the flour, and added an extra half cup of almond flour (for protein) and they still turned out delicious. We love them!

Jersey Fresh Tomato Soup

Reviewed: Jul. 5, 2012
I thought this was really good! I made it with almond milk instead of milk (we don't do milk) and veggie broth, and it was delicious! For the basil, I picked basil from our garden, and the tomatoes were from our garden as well.

Whole Wheat Honey Bread

Reviewed: Jun. 7, 2012
Great recipe! I added the gluten to it, and used butter instead of shortening. I also warmed the liquid before adding it. I set my bread maker to "wheat". It turned out perfect -- not a flaw. Everybody ate it up and loved it --- without even putting butter or anything on it.

Winter Squash Casserole

Reviewed: Nov. 24, 2011
This recipe was delicious! I did substitute, but it still turned out excellent. Here is what I did: I used coconut sugar instead of regular sugar, I halved the amount of butter, then used half of that in butter and the other half as coconut oil. I used coconut flour instead of flour, and doubled the topping. This was absolutely delicious! Coconut sugar is not as sweet as regular sugar, so it was not too sweet at all.

Heavenly Health Dog Biscuits

Reviewed: Dec. 25, 2010
This is a great recipe, thank you! My dog is highly allergic to corn and it is hard to find cookies without corn in them. With corn being such a common allergy for dogs, you would think it was easier to find food and treats made without it! Thank you for the recipe. My dog loves them.

White Velvet Cake II

Reviewed: Dec. 12, 2009
I wanted to add as well that we ended up eating it with no icing at all and it was absolutely perfect that way. No icing needed... the cake is just right the way it is.
