Smoked Paprika Goulash for the Slow Cooker

The first time I made this I wasn't thrilled, because I was hoping it would be like my dad's German goulash, but the smoked paprika wasn't in my dad's dish and it was something I wasn't used to. My husband said he'd eat it again, so I made it a second time and I really liked it. The sour cream does cut down on the smoky flavor and cools it down if it's too hot. I make this at least once a month in the winter. It's a nice hearty comfort food.
