Chocolate Decadence Cake III

Reviewed: Feb. 22, 2004
This cake is very, very rich...a little bit does indeed go a long way. It was very easy to make. My husband and I really enjoyed it...it satisfies a sweet or chocolate craving very well.

Hot Bean Dip

Reviewed: May 31, 2004
This was really good, and made a huge batch! This recipe is very mild, so I added a bit more tobasco, and next time may add some chiles. I also used the whole package of taco seasoning. The top crust of cheese was kind of thick, next time I may add more cheese to the dip, and use less as topping.

Cinnamon Chocolate Cake

Reviewed: Feb. 14, 2004
Although very easy, this cake was delicious! the extra ingredients did help perk up the plain cake mix. I used fat-free sour cream to save calories, and it was still great.

D's Famous Salsa

Reviewed: Apr. 10, 2004
I've never made salsa before, and this was super easy, and tasted delicious. Some members of my family tolerate only a little spiciness, and they liked this recipe. I added a little tobasco to the rest of the batch for myself and others, and it was superb. I will definately make this again.

Apple Cake and Butter Sauce

Reviewed: May 10, 2004
My mother requested a spice cake for her birthday, and based on reviews, I picked this one. She was disappointed it wasn't a traditional 2 layer cake with icing, until she tried it. She said it tasted like a fancy desert you'd get at a nice restaraunt. Everyone raved and loved it. Its very rich, moist, great served with ice cream. There was a lot of excess butter sauce, you could easily 1/2 the ingredients for it.

Sherbet Shower Surprise

Reviewed: May 31, 2004
I made this for a baby shower recently, and everyone raved about how good the punch was. I used diet 7 up, just because it was so sweet already with the juice and sherbet. I tried the recipe with using pineapple, orange, and lime sherbet. Although all were good, my husband and I both strongly preferred the orange, and that is what i made for the shower. It was extremely easy to make. I will definately use this recipe next time.

Feta Cheese Foldovers

Reviewed: May 31, 2004
I would give this recipe 10 stars if i could. I served this at a baby shower and i was told by a few people that i should go into catering (at which my husband laughed hysterically). This looks and tastes more complicated than it is. Perfect for serving guests. I also used the tomato & basil feta cheese for added flavor. At the recommendation of another reviewer, I tried some using crescent roll dough...they were tasty, but not as good as the puff pastry, and not as presentable.

Barbecue Beef Cups

Reviewed: Nov. 20, 2004
This recipe was a great idea, that is a fun finger food, and easy for children to eat. I added a lot of spices (chilli powder, taco seasoning, garlic, onion, & Emerills hot sauce) to the ground beef, and it was delicious. I also used cupcake papers (sprayed w/cooking spray or will stick) and it made it easier to handle.

Pasta with Asparagus

Reviewed: Jan. 7, 2005
This is a great basic low fat recipe. It is wonderful because it is easy to add/delete the vegies you like or have on hand and create a healthy dish. I added broccoli and used fresh garlic, rosemary, and tyme, and used wheat pasta, and it was super. I had run out of parmesean cheese, and it was still good...i did use italian bread crumbs instead though.

Wild Rice Casserole

Reviewed: Jan. 7, 2005
This is a wonderfully healthy rice recipe. I love that you can just throw the rice in the pan with your favorite chopped vegies and put it in the oven (stirring every 20-30 min or so). I will definately be using this one again. Thanks Holly. (BTW...i added ginger, soy, and lots of garlic, and to me it was great this way)

Carrot and Ginger Soup

Reviewed: Nov. 16, 2004
This soup did take a lot of prep work, but it was tasty. I love the flavors of this soup. However, I was not a fan of the pureed texture, next time I will not mix it in the blender at the end, it reminded me of baby food.

Creamy Banana Bread

Reviewed: May 31, 2004
I didn't have a loaf pan so I made 24 muffins from this recipe. I made the first dozen layering the cinnamon/nut mixture between the two layers of batter, and the second dozen I just mixed the cinnamon and nuts with the rest of the batter. The first batch tasted very plain, the second with the mixed batter was much tastier and flavorful. I also added nutmeg to give it a little zing. This was a good recipe for banana bread, but I'm more fond of the moister gooier recipes. This was more cakelike.

Grilled Corn in the Husk

Reviewed: May 14, 2006
This is entirely too salty!!! I even added more butter to compensate, but had to ditch the whole batch and start over. Good concept, but unless you want a little butter w/your salt, just salt and pepper to taste.
