English Royalty Chocolate Chip Scones

Reviewed: Jul. 31, 2006
I also had to adjust the liquid amounts, just kept adding until it looked right. But who cares, because the were outrageous!

Caramelized French Toast

Reviewed: Jun. 6, 2006
When I made this, nothing I did could get the caramel right. It kept coming out crunchy.

Any Flavor Taffy

Reviewed: Jun. 6, 2006
Super easy and tasty. My kids and I make this all the time. A huge hit at birthday parties, I do the cooking in advance, then let the kids pull it after it cools.

These were okay, but not as much apple flavor as I would have liked.

Apple Coffee Cake

Reviewed: Jun. 6, 2006
I used bottled apples from last year's harvest and it turned out great. This was a moist, heavy cake - great for breakfast with a tall glass of cold milk.

Grandma VanDoren's White Bread

Reviewed: May 19, 2006
WOW! This is the only homemade white bread my kids will eat. It's so fluffy, unlike the heavy stuff I always made before. For this recipe, I used unbleached flour and a tablespoon and a half of the powdered dough enhancer you can get at your local kitchen supply store. I'm also an impatient bread maker so I used my favorite brand of rapid-rise yeast with great results. This was ecxellent! The only white bread recipe I'll ever use again.

Crispy Gingersnaps

Reviewed: Dec. 8, 2005
Outstanding is not a strong enough word! My son is a pumpkin pie fanatic but after these, he has a new favorite dessert. I followed some of the other suggestions listed. I baked it on parchment and added a touch of nutmeg and cloves. I also flattened them out a little before baking. I couldn't believe how easy they were to make. Best cookies I've had in ages!

Cinnamon Bun Scones

Reviewed: Mar. 19, 2004
These were super easy and super tasty! They were very light and moist, and I loved the way the nuts and cinnamon swirled through the scone. I made them for company and they loved it! I felt like the hostess at some fancy bed and breakfast.

Awesome! These were so flavorful and moist! I liked using the ready-made pancake mix for this. It saved a lot of time.

Barb's Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Muffins

SO EASY! These tasted better than the muffins you get at the store. I added a few extra chocolate chips and they still turned out great.

Baked Pancake Squares

Reviewed: Mar. 17, 2004
The kids really liked this one. The texture was like corn bread and the flavor like pancakes. The recipe says it makes 16 servings, but it makes 16 squares. (About four servings) I had to make a second batch to fill everyone up.

Watch out! If you don't serve this right out of the oil, it seems to get a bit tough. Very tasty, though!

Cinnamon Streusel Orange Muffins

Reviewed: Mar. 11, 2004
These tasted great, but all the streusel decided to sink to the bottom of the muffins while they cooked!

Salisbury Steak

My husband really liked it, but I thought it was more of a glorified meatloaf. We ate it on hamburger buns, which was fun for the kids.

Chocolate Brunch Waffles

Reviewed: Feb. 21, 2004
My seven-year-old said, "They should expand teh rating system to ten stars for this recipe!" These were a lot more moist than standard waffles, which normally turn out a little crispy for me. Also, when I mixed the milk and eggs with the chocolate sauce, The cold ingredients caused the chocolate to lump up a bit. I think this could have been prevented by allowing ALL of the ingredients to come to room temperature. This goes great with the "Chocolate Gravy II," also found on this site.

My kids decided we need to put this on everything! I found that a half batch was more than enough for my three boys.
