About this Cook
I have my own cake business for 19 years. I have just started at a little local market in the bakery doing the cakes, cookies etc. I enjoy it but just like any grocery store the cakes where generic looking and they thought is speed get it quick! It is a hard transition to make when you have free range at home and ideas and not somebody looking over your shoulder wondering whether or not your spending to much time on a cake.
My favorite things to cook
My favorite family cooking traditions
Homemade biscuits and sausage gravy. When I make pancakes I still like to make the pancakes into shapes. Yes even though my kids are 19, 16 and 13 I usually make them into whatever they are into. No more bunnies dogs and kitties. Just guns video game characters and horses.
My cooking triumphs
When I was 12 I made my first cream puffs from scratch. and my dad wanted them all the time. Then other desserts followed which made him happy! and mom proud. Whatever I learned I learned from my mom!
My cooking tragedies
My cream puffs. I didn't realize that the pate' chaux was suppose to look like the way it did. and I threw out 2 batches before my mom stopped me at the door on my third trip. By the way my dog and cat loved the throw aways! My second tragedy was cooking with a pressure cooker need I say more. I sold it at garage sale won't use one again for a long time!

Awesome Roast Beef
I had bought a chuck roast one evening and I thought I would make it the next and I wanted to use my slower cooker because I was going to be at my kids school for most of the day. I put in about 7:30 that morning and by the time I got home the house smelled out of this world. The roast fell apart it was so tender. My oldest is 16 and he couldn't stop eating it hence the age! My husband said that this had to be the best roast I ever made. I actually bought a 5 pounder and there was only enough meat for my husband sandwich the next. I also froze about 2c of gravy.
