Dog Treats I

Reviewed: Mar. 29, 2013
I made these "cookies" for our Chu-weenie, this morning. omigoodness, our pup is such a happy camper. after reading reviews, I made these changes. lost the corn, which is just a filler, dogs cannot digest corn. and replaced volume w the whole wheat flour (extra 1/4 c) and oats, 2 c instead of one. I also replaced margarine w bacon grease. then finally chopped bacon, and added to oat mixture. everything else was as written. My dog is all over these cookies. whenever I head into the kitchen shes right with me. thanks for the post

Pumpkin Chocolate Dessert Cake

Reviewed: Feb. 27, 2013
Omigoodness, I made this cake for grandma's dinner nite tonight. My grandkids are pretty picky I am believing this cake will be a huge hit. I couldn't wait for dessert to try it. This is the smoothest, yummiest chocolate scratch cake I have ever baked. I made this exactly as the recipe state except, no cream I used buttermilk, for cream in glaze I use regular flavor coffeemate creamer... omi.. so so good. beware, the glaze is to die for, if you are even a remotely addicted to caramel.

I have been a USMC wife for 35+ years and this recipe is the closest i have seen to the one taught to me by a close friend who had also married a Marine. She was new to the US from the Phillipines. My family eat these as a meal with rice and asian veggies on side. my husband perfers to americanize his, with catsup as his dipping sauce. thanks for the post

Pear Pie II

Reviewed: Sep. 11, 2010
My son and I share alot of the cooking duties at our house and today we made this together. I made the pastry shell, and he did the rest. He is a novice cook, but this pie was easy and might i add, Delish, the flavor is very subtle, delicate on the pallet. A very nice change from over the top, packed full of flavor desserts.

Beef Stroganoff III

Reviewed: Aug. 22, 2010
We made this for dinner the other night, umm umm good! I followed the recipe almost to the letter, with a couple of very minor changes (all involved cooking order, not ingredients). I used a very tasty pinot griego for my wine, the aroma of this cooking was absolutly mouthwatering. The flavor however was FANTASTIC. This is a perfect dish for date nite or a family meal. Try it, I promise you will love it.

Easy and Delicious Chicken and Rice Casserole

Reviewed: Jul. 25, 2010
I made this for last nights dinner and it was incredible. DH and kids loved it, even I went back for a second helping of the rice. I did think the soup mix would have been to salty. I subbed 1/2 TBL sp Garlic salt, 1 tsp celery salt, 2 tsp onion powder. and since i doubled the recipe i used 1 can cm of mushroom & 1 can roasted garlic crm mushroom. also added 1/2 tsp tarragon on top before baking, salt and pepper to taste. Excellent recipe, thanks for sharing. Oh, and Hubby says thanks too. He is not a big chicken fan, but this could convert him. :)

Ten Minute Enchilada Sauce

Reviewed: Jun. 10, 2010
can you say oh my GOODNESS? I have always used canned enchi sauce to make my hubbys favorite enchilada casserole. Never again. This sauce tasted just like a favorite mexican restraunt hubby and i frequented while we were still dating. I followed the recipe exactly except for replacing the water w chicken broth and adding about 1/4 tsp chipotle chili powder. So easy, and so, so, yummy. Thanks for the recipe.

Baked Asparagus with Balsamic Butter Sauce

Reviewed: Jun. 17, 2009
WOW,WOW,WOW!! I am usually not a asparagus fan, but with this basic recipe and a couple of unplanned changes it was spectacular. First, because my oven was in "clean" mode, i wasn't able to bake this. i cut the spears in 2 after removing the woody parts. Then stir fried them in veg oil with chopped garlic. i then melted the butter in the microwave and added soy sauce to the butter along with about 1 tblsp sesame seeds. before adding the butter, because the spears were still a bit too crunchy i added about 1/4 c water to my wok and steamed the aspargus. after the water had steamed off added the butter mixture to the veggies and tossed to coat... yummmy! DH, who doesnt usually eat aspargus, cleaned his plate of all his veggies..

Beef Barley Stew

Reviewed: Mar. 18, 2009
OmiGosh!! I made this stew(I made soup)for dinner the night before last. My DH and grown son, finished off the entire pot, minus my one bowl, in one night. I followed the recipe to the letter, except for doubling the entire recipe. definitly will be making this again. I was very reluctant to begin with about putting the wine into the recipe, but was oh so glad that i did when all was said and done. My Son and DH raved over this one. Will most decidedly go into the family recipe box. Thanks so much for sharing.

Foolproof Rib Roast

Reviewed: Dec. 28, 2008
I must admit i was a bit skeptical about this recipe. However.. It was as good, if not better than i had hoped for. I made this for Christmas dinner, for 20 people, and had nothing but rave reviews. I did have to change the timing a bit, to accomodate roasting my turkey as well. I started this roast early in the morning, cooked one hour, as per instructions, let it rest 2 hours, then turned it back on for 1.5 hours(my family is not fond of rare meat) this produced a juicy, pink on the inside, lovely brown on the outside prime rib. The taste was exceptionally good, better than most resteraunts. Thanks for posting this recipe.
