About this Cook
I am newly married for the first time to a wonderful christian man I met at a local disabled center that we both attended at the time we met. I have been baking and teaching the local children to bake for 8 years. Especially at the holidays we gather together and make cookies and then deliver them to the neighbors with a card from all of us. I enjoy children and baking as well as teaching so I put it all together and help the moms. It blesses all of us.
My favorite things to cook
I love to make homemade soups, quickbreads, sugerfree items for my hubby and experiment with new spices on meats and fish to bake and flavor as well as vegetables to help keep weight and sugar levels down. Our friends enjoy my efforts as well when i make soup or chili as I make them with very low salt.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My mother made everything from scratch and I have found it is the best way to get the real true flavor and healthiest meal there is. Hot chili con carne, fresh soup with lamb or chicken and variety of vegis is a great way to end the day with fresh cornbread from scratch sugerfree of course or sourdough bread for the soup. Always plenty of leftovers that taste even better the next day. it turns out perfect always. cabbage, carrots, small potatoes, parsnips, celery, lamb or chicken, it cooks till meat is soft then add vegis its great on a cold day.
My cooking triumphs
My soup is the favorite of everyone so far. I use a saltfree mixture of spices(Santa Paula no salt seasoning)from the 99 cent store and a sea salt to season it with and a variety of vegetables that makes everyone ask for more. fresh sourdough bread with real butter or garlic butter.
My cooking tragedies
My meatloaf the first couple times from recipes on the net did not turn out well at all. I have learned what not to use and what to use when I follow recipes on the web. My husband was very diplomatic about not eating very much that night. one night the Basa fish I ruined by seasoning wrong it was horrible. I have not purchased it since until I figure out what I did the first time correctly.

Peanut Butter Cookies VIII
This recipe is great for kids learning about baking. My 7 yr old niece and I had a great time making cookies on a rainy with this and she is now convinced I can't bake without her help and is very confident and helpful in the kitchen as a result of learning how easy it is to measure and mix and help in the kitchen. as a result her math grades have improved having to add and figure fractions. Thanks for a great recipe and help in homework and atttide in general. This has started a whole new kitchen learning center in my home for her. You are fantastic.
