Berry Oatmeal Muffins

Reviewed: Aug. 10, 2008
I made this recipe with a few small changes - I used 1 c. all-purpose flour and 1/2 c. oat flour, 1/3 c. applesauce and 1/8 c. vegetable oil, and baked for 22 minutes. My husband and kids devoured them! Thanks for a great recipe!

Spinach and Mushroom Quesadillas

Reviewed: Apr. 20, 2008
This was quite good, although I made a couple of alterations. First, I used whole wheat tortillas. Second, instead of mushrooms, I used chopped, cooked bacon. My whole family enjoyed it.

Penne Pasta with Spinach and Bacon

Reviewed: Apr. 17, 2008
My husband & I love this recipe! My kids weren't thrilled, but did finish it. The only things I did differently were to use whole wheat rotini pasta, baby spinach, and parmesan cheese on top. Sensational! Will make again & again!

Oatmeal Delights

Reviewed: Apr. 12, 2008
These are the BEST oatmeal chocolate chip cookies ever! I followed the recipe exactly, only adding 1/2 tsp. of cinnamon. This is one of my favorite cookies. We couldn't stop eating them. Thank you for a fantastic recipe!

Raspberry Cream Cheese Bars

Reviewed: Mar. 18, 2008
Incredibly easy to make and equally delicious to eat! Next time I make these I am going to use whole wheat flour and add some wheat germ, too, to make them a little healthy. Thanks for a great recipe!

Pineapple Upside-Down Cake V

Reviewed: Jan. 24, 2008
This turned out so well! I baked it in a 9X13 pan and it had a beautiful appearance. It didn't fall apart at all, although it was crumbly to eat. Everyone loved it, claiming it was "off the hook!" Thanks for a fabulous recipe!

Snickerdoodles III

Reviewed: Dec. 12, 2007
These are very yummy cookies. I'd never made snickerdoodles before. These were fairly easy to make and I'm pleased with the outcome. I followed the recipe exactly except I flattened the dough balls with the bottom of a glass and baked them at 375 for 10-11 minutes. I will make them again & again.

Grandma's Hash Browns

Reviewed: Jun. 10, 2007
What a great recipe! It's nice to finally know the trick to great hash browns, boiling and refrigerating. We added chopped onions, pepper, and bacon. There were no leftovers! Thanks for sharing this fantastic recipe, which will surely be a family favorite for years to come.

Purple Plum Pie

Reviewed: Feb. 8, 2007
This tastes fantastic! We think it's more of a cobbler than a pie though. I first mixed the sliced plums with a 1/2 cup of sugar and microwaved them for 4 minutes then followed the recipe. I rolled out the pie shell to fit well in an 8X11 baking dish then poured in the plum mixture and followed the recipe, baking for 50 minutes and not covering with foil. I served it with butter pecan ice cream. Every person at the table (8 of us) thought it was one of the best desserts ever! Thanks for sharing!

Magic Mango Bread

Reviewed: Jan. 25, 2007
Oh, wow!! This is the best dessert bread I've ever had. I'm a big peach fan and when baked, the mango really resembles baked peach. I made a few changes: I added 1 tsp. baking powder, 1 tsp. baking soda, and 1 tsp. lemon juice. I omitted the butter and cut the oil down to 1/4 cup and added 3/4 cup applesauce. My husband doesn't like raisins in bread so I didn't add those. I cut the sugar added to 3/4 cup. I made 4 mini-loaf pans and baked for about 45 minutes. I love this recipe and the bread is our new family favorite!

Gloomy Day Smoothie

Reviewed: Jan. 25, 2007
My family loves this smoothie! I used 1/2 c. orange juice and 1/2 c. water to cut down on the sugar. I didn't have vanilla yogurt, so I used plain yogurt with a 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla and a teaspoon of honey. This is a fantastic recipe and a great way to start the day!

Alison's Slow Cooker Vegetable Beef Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 19, 2007
A good, hearty soup, but, wow, is it salty! I didn't add the additional salt and only put in 5 boullion cubes and it was still way salty! I will make it again but will only add 3 boullion cubes. I added more veggies and beef than the recipe called for also. My kids and husband loved it!

Honeyed Pork Chops

Reviewed: Jan. 17, 2007
My 4-star rating for this is probably more for personal preferences. I didn't like the honey and onion tastes together. I found it to be a little sweet, too, even though I only added 2 tbsp. instead of 3 of honey. I didn't cook the pork for nearly as long either and my chops were very thick. 40 minutes and they were perfect. Do thicken the sauce with some cornstarch for a nice glaze. My kids and husband devoured this dish!

Japanese-Style Sesame Green Beans

Reviewed: Jan. 17, 2007
My family loved this recipe. My kids, who never eat green beans, polished off all theirs in minutes! I added more sesame seeds, but other than that made as directed. End result - fabulous!

Brunch Strata

Reviewed: Nov. 13, 2006
This is an excellent dish for breakfast or brunch! I made it for brunch yesterday and everyone, including my kids, devoured it! I didn't have enough zucchini (I used about 1/2 as much as called for and cut out the seeds so it wouldn't get too watery) and I used turkey bacon instead of ham. My husband can't wait for me to make it again, and neither can I! Thanks, Arlene, for a great recipe!

BBQ Dry Rub

Reviewed: Jul. 14, 2005
This is an excellent recipe. The pork chops had a very nice flavor and were very juicy. I had cut the pepper required in half and it was still a little too peppery for my taste, which is why I gave it four instead of five stars.
