Proteins include egg whites,some
poultry,and fish.
Fresh fruits for snacks and desserts.
My favorite family cooking traditions
We eat for health. Low fat,low salt, very low sugar. Frying, gravies, fats, are rarely served.
My cooking triumphs
We eat two meals a day:
Breakfast- homemade whole grain hot cereal with bananas, almonds, walnuts, dried fruit, and soy milk.
Lunch/dinner- Cooked meal.
Our weight is easy to maintain without fad diets.
My cooking tragedies
When our two children were young we accepted guardianship of two nephews into our family. I cooked all the dishes that all the children liked. As a result my husband and I gained weight. What a mistake. The dinner table is the place where families learn not only values but the good and bad about food. If only I could change that past decision.
