God's not thru with me yet,but I recognize I am His masterpiece.Him and I are working together on patience, humility and an understanding heart.
My favorite things to cook
SALADS:fresh, colorful, cold, hot, spicy, sweet, the choices are endless, and can be rewarding and impressive, tempting the palate, and satisfying the stomach.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I've had the privilege of being in the kitchen with some awesome divas,my puertorican gmother Maria, mother Inde, and aunt Ramona;my creole mother in law LouBertha, grand mother Famie, and aunt Marie, been introduced to stirfrying in Okinawa, Salmon smoking in Alaska, barbecuing in Texas, and blessed by returning home to Puerto Rico and eating all that glorious food, while listening to the waves kissing the shore.
My cooking triumphs
My son came over for dinner with one of his ladies(name withheld to protect the guilty)as he sucked on the chicken bones, he said 'HOW DO YOU GET THE CHICKEN SO TENDER AND JUICY?" it was hard to be humble and just say "Oh, I've been cooking for so long, if I dont have it by now, I never will." This of course ruined the evening for his lady, and needless to say she wasn't his lady much longer.
My cooking tragedies
My first kitchen almost burned down,we had just moved into base housing at WAFB, Mo. when I was frying chicken and the grease overflowed to the gas flame and quickly caught on fire, I grabbed the frying pan threw it in the sink, which of course flared up catching my curtains,I called my husband who had been outside teaching the neighbors boys how to throw a football, he came in the kitchen and ripped the curtains down, put the fire out.All the neighbors came to make sure we were safe, what a way to meet everyone!
