About this Cook
I come from a family of cooks. I've always loved cooking and trying new and different things. I've been married for 4 years and I have 2 kids and am finding that I need to ideas for quick, healthy, and apetizing dishes.
My favorite things to cook
I love using the slow-cooker. Favorite things to cook are Chinese food (not in the slow-cooker). Kung Pao chicken, lettuce wraps, sweet and sour chicken, and Mongolian beef. I also love cooking vegetables in a variety of tasty ways.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Every Christmas Eve, instead of a Thanksgiving type meal, we enjoy a table full of Chinese food-complete with chopsticks, fortune cookies and decorations. Everyone helps in preparing a variety of Chinese dishes. Kung Pao is a family recipe passed on. On Christmas Day, we enjoy a massive breakfast with gourmet omelets and fresh squeezed juices.
My cooking triumphs
In my opinion, I have really mastered the technique of preparing Chinese and Indian food with ease and I enjoy making it beautiful
My cooking tragedies
Where do I begin? The one that comes to mind is I always burn meat when cooking in a skillet and the first thing I cooked for my husband was a quiche. I used some sort of metal pan to cook it in and when he tasted it, he couldn't hide his surprise and disgust. It tasted just like the pan I cooked it in. Metal! Needless to say, a lesson was learned that day.

Chocolate Eclair Dessert
This was really good! I wanted to keep eating it! Everyone loved it. We're not frosting people, so I wish that I could figure out a different topping.

Asparagus Parmesan
This is the only way we prepare our asparagus now! VERY GOOD! Another way to prepare it is in the oven. You can spray a pan with Pam, then you line up the asparagus and shake it a bit so all sides are coated with the spray. Then sprinkle with kosher salt and pepper. Bakes at 450 for 5 minutes. Then sprinkle with paremesan when you pull the pan out of the oven. Baking and spraying with a fat-free cooking spray may make it a bit healthier

Cha Cha's White Chicken Chili
This really is a fabulous recipe. If you are thinking it is too spicy, just omit the jalepenos. I add a cup or two more of chicken broth and I use different kinds of beans each time I make it. I love it with Black Eye Peas. We sprinkle green onions, cilantro, monterey jack cheese, crushed tortilla chips, guacamole, sour cream, and a lime wedge on top. SO INCREDIBLY GOOD! A real comfort food. This is almost just like the White Chili recipe from Beyond Parsley. A cookbook put out by the Junior League of Kansas.
