Bread and Celery Stuffing

Reviewed: Nov. 27, 2013
I don't like adding stuffing in the bird, so we make this as a side in a buttered casserole. This recipe has great flavor, but I do add a beaten egg or two (that's what my Mom used to do)to help bind it together.

Sour Cream Refrigerator Mashed Potatoes

Reviewed: Nov. 27, 2013
I always make these for holidays. It is so helpful that I can make them in advance......a stress saver!! I know, it's un-American, but I don't like traditional mashed potatoes. I do love these, and so does my mashed potato-loving husband. We find that some cheddar cheese and crumbled bacon on top makes the great recipe even better. Doesn't a little bacon and cheese make everything better?

I haven't bought packaged seasoning since trying this recipe several years ago. Very tasty and no worries about MSG.

Patty's Mom's Black Bean Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 4, 2010
I like black beans in other recipes, but I did not like the flavor of this soup at all. It simply tasted like regular bean soup.....which I do not like. My husband said that it was just ok. I think I will try to freeze the rest of the pot and take it to my Dad, who loves bean soup.

Dill Dip III

Reviewed: Dec. 10, 2009
I am addicted! It is good with veggies, pretzels, crackers, tortilla chips, on cucumber sandwiches. I thought the full recipe would make too much dip so I made a half batch the first time. We licked the bowl clean pretty quickly, so I now make a full batch for parties. I cut the salt down to 1-1/2 t.

Homemade Pancake Mix

Reviewed: Oct. 24, 2009
I haven't bought pancake mix since trying this recipe a couple years ago. I keep a ziplock bag of the mix in the refrig. at all times. I usually add about a T of salt to the mix recipe.

The Best Rolled Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Oct. 22, 2009
I have made this recipe many, many times. I love the cookies and get many rave reviews. I like using Land-o-Lakes butter for the recipe. I think that it mixes and tastes better than using generic butter.

Amish Macaroni Salad

Reviewed: Mar. 23, 2009
I have made this recipe for years and LOVE it. I generally follow the recipe to a T, but sometimes I omit the red bell pepper if they are out of season. This dressing makes a WONDERFUL potato salad also.

Slow-Cooker Chicken Tortilla Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 16, 2009
I make this all of the time. I cook large batches of chicken breast in the crockpot and keep packages of cooked, cubed chicken in the freezer so this recipe is so easy to throw together. In addition to being easy, it is healthy, and so good. I usually add a can of black beans (rinsed and drained)to the mix.

Mini Pumpkin Muffins with Orange Drizzle

Reviewed: Oct. 8, 2008
These are a winner! I make them all the time and my 4 year old loves them. I have made a couple of changes to the recipe over time. I use pureed butternut squash instead of pumpkin because I grow the squash in my garden. I also make them a little healthier by using the Sneaky Chef flour blend in place of white flour. The flour blend is 1 part white flour, 1 part wheat flour, and 1 part wheat germ.

Playgroup Granola Bars

Reviewed: Oct. 5, 2008
I make these bars all the time. They are great for breakfast or an on-the-go snack. I use whole wheat flour instead of white flour. I make them a little thicker as suggested in the reviews. I have added many different ingredients and I don't think that you can mess them up. I usually add a bit of ground flaxseed meal, and have tried coconut, almonds, chocolate chips, sunflower seeds.....all yummy.

Best Ever Banana Bread

Reviewed: Sep. 27, 2008
This is very yummy. The bread is moist and my favorite part is the light, sweet crust that seems to form on the top. The first time I made it, I followed the recipe to a T and it was great. The second time I made it, I used 1/4 cup plain yogurt and cut the oil to 1/4 cup. I also added 1/2 cup whole wheat flour and cut the white flour to 1 and 1/4 cup. It is just a tad bit healthier this way and I really can't tell the difference.

Stephanie's Freezer Spaghetti Sauce

Reviewed: Aug. 28, 2008
Excellent! I have made this for several years. I love to pile my freezer full and enjoy it all year long. I no longer make it in a crockpot. I found that the crockpot is too small and messy for the recipe. I simmer it on the stovetop in a large stock pot for a few hours. I find that the sauce becomes much thicker when I make it on the stovetop.

Curried Rice Pilaf

Reviewed: Jun. 18, 2008
I made this rice the other day for my family. It was really YUMMY and tasted great with the kebabs that I made on the grill. I didn't have raisins onhand, so I didn't use them. Don't leave out the toasted almonds....they really made the dish. It seemed to be done earlier than the recipe time, so I would advise you to watch it. I didn't think that my husband would like it, but he did and was looking for the leftovers in the fridge the next day (he usually isn't very good at using leftovers).

Justin's Hoosier Daddy Chili

Tasty chili! I don't care for beans & there were too many in this recipe for me to pick out. Next time I will probably use half the beans and double the meat.
