Traditional Italian Sausage Stuffing

Reviewed: Nov. 4, 2011
Ok I usually steer away from recipes without reviews but I was taking a chance on this cause it sounded good!! Although it was really good it needed a little fixing up. I cut the recipe in half cause it was just myself & husband. I bought a rosemary olive oil loaf of focaccia bread & it added wonderful flavor! I also bought Jones breakfast sausage (I thought the recipe called for breakfast sausage when I was shopping & couldn't find Johnsonville brand so just grabbed my regualr favorite until I realized it was suppose to be italian sausage, my mistake but it was really good so I will stick to Jones breakfast from now on!) I left out the green peppers, tomatoes & olives we don't care for them, but did add a handfull of craisins which added a great sweetness to the stuffing! Then I opted for the white wine instead of water! It smelt wonderful before I even put it in the oven! However the stuffing was still dry & crunchy when it was done....so my only complaint was that it needed more liquid. But it was my 1st time making stuffing so i didn't want to add more liquid in case it made it soggy....but now I know if it looks like I need it add it before you bake it! It was still good just very, crunchy! Overall tasted great! I'm making this for my 1st thanksgiving dinner with the changes :-)

Groovy Green Smoothie

Reviewed: Feb. 10, 2011
This was way better than I expected it to be!! I will admit I was a little nervous I was going to waste all my fruit doing this, but it turned out great! I made it exactly as written except I added 2 apples & some ice cubes to thicken it up. I am amazed at how I don't even taste the spinach! It looks really nasty but it tastes great!!

Armenian Shish Kabob

Reviewed: Dec. 10, 2008
This was ok, I was hoping for somthing great. My hubby is half armenian & I made this to surprise him. The lamb was pretty good, but we were both hoping for it to be a little more saucey. It didn't have a whole lot of flavor. Not sure if I will make it again, but if I do...I will definatley have to spice it up a bit. Too plain for our taste.

American Lasagna

Reviewed: Dec. 9, 2011
Best lasagna I've ever made period!!!! I made it in the afternoon & refrigerated till dinner. The only thing I did different was using jarred Barilla Italian sausage sauce. I grated some zucchini & squash & added chopped mushrooms to the meat. Also used Italian seasoning instead of oregano (didn't have it) & added 2 good splashes of red wine before simmering. Next time I'll use less brown sugar it was a tad sweet, but not bad. Also didn't use parm cheese in the ricotta mixture cause I had none but did add some garlic to it. Absolutely delish & will be my go to lasagna recipe from now on!

Very Veggie Lasagna

Reviewed: Jan. 14, 2011
This was SOOO good!!! I've been trying to eat healthier & get in more veggies & will admit the thought of putting broccoli & carrots in lasagna was a bit odd but it turned out wonderful! It has so much flavor & I didn't miss the meat at all!! The reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 was because my broccoli, even though I cut them up were not cooked as much as I would have liked. Next time I think I will steam them halfway then add them to the lasagna. Here's what I did: I added 1 egg to the ricotta mixture, added tons of garlic cause I love it & sprinkled some basil, salt & pepper in there too. I left out the spinach because I didn't have any & honestly it was already loaded & didn't need anything more! I had to use a jar & 1/2 of sauce & on the top layer of my lasagna I was running low on mozzarella so I used grated parm cheese & it was superb!!!

Garlic Chicken Fried Chicken

Reviewed: Mar. 29, 2011
This was sooo good!!! I made it exactly as written except I had drumsticks & I marinated them for an hour in buttermilk! I fried them until brown & crispy & then baked at 400 degree's for 25 minutes! Served with creamy spiced coleslaw & Kentucky biscuits both from this site & fresh corn on the cob! It hit the spot!!!

Cioppino

Reviewed: Dec. 3, 2010
I made this tonight & I thought it was pretty good but my husband on the other hand didn't care for it & he LOVES muscles! I made the broth as stated except I used half fish stock & half chicken broth to give it more of a seafood taste, I also replaced the water with clam juice & added way more garlic since we are garlic lovers! And added a few shakes of red pepper flakes. The broth was great....my husband agrees this was the only thing that was good!! But that was my fault I bought fresh muscles & clams but cheeped out & bought a frozen bag of mixed seafood that was absolutely horrible!! Also both my husband & I thought it needed more substance, either potatoes & rice or egg noodles added to it. The broth was great though! But again it was my fault.

Ultimate Shrimp Scampi

Reviewed: Aug. 25, 2010
This was absolutely delicious & by far one of the best pasta recipes I've tried on the site!!!! The only change I made was that I threw in some scallops along with the shrimp because I had some leftover. Also I would use a tiny bit less pepper because it was a bit peppery for my husband & I's taste....other than that very tasty & quick dinner! Loved the hint of lemon it had in it...made it taste very fresh & summery!

Honey Glazed Ham

Reviewed: Dec. 7, 2009
AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME!!! This was just wonderful!! I bought a 2 pound ham because it was just me & my hubby, so I cut the recipe in half. I made exactly as the recipe called for except I used brown sugar in place of the corn syrup because I didn't have any on hand. Then I lined my pan really good with tin foil & put half the glaze in there while simmering the other half on the stove. I basted the ham often & when there was 10 min. left for the ham & half of the remaining glaze on the ham & then the rest of it when there was 5 min. left. There was a ton of glaze but it was sooo yummy that I didn't mind at all!! I served with mashed sweet potatoes, squash & honey wheat bread (from this site) The bread tasted soooo great dipped in the glaze!! My hubby loves ham & he thought this was absolutley great! I like ham but I don't usually have more than a piece or 2 & I thought it was the best ham I ever had period!!! I will be making this for christmas dinner when I have the family over! Awsome recipe, thanks soo much :)

Alysia's Basic Meat Lasagna

Reviewed: Jul. 24, 2011
This was good although I don't know how only 9 noodles was enough for a full sized 9x13 lasagna! I made a 9x9 & just had enough. Anyways it was good, I added some chopped sauteed spinach & mushrooms for added nutrition. Maybe it was that addition but I thought the lasagna was kinda liquidy. Other than that it tasted pretty good!

Chicken Enchiladas I

Reviewed: Aug. 4, 2011
This was sooo yummy!!! Besides shredding the chicken, it was fairly easy to make too! I replaced the tomato sauce & water with green chili enchilada sauce (bought green by mistake) & salsa. Also used just a couple spoonfuls of sour cream instead of the full 1/2 pint. Then I topped the enchiladas with an 8oz jar of red enchilada sauce mixed with 1/4 cup half & half too make it creamier! Delicious!!!

Baked Haddock with Spinach and Tomatoes

Reviewed: Jan. 12, 2011
I made this last night & it was good but it didn't have a whole lot of flavor, even after making some changes that others suggested. I think it has potential though! I sauteed the onion in butter & added about a TBSP or a tad more of fresh garlic, added the spinach & nutmeg. Then I put the fish in the dish & sprinkled onion powder, cayenne pepper, & salt on it. Next time I will add garlic powder & regular pepper as well. I put the spinach mixture all over the fish & baked it. When I made the sauce I added 1/4 cup of white wine to it. Next time I'll use a can of tomato sauce & double it cause there wasn't nearly enough! I think with the extra changes it could be really good & healthy dinner :-)

Banana Split Bread

Reviewed: Sep. 3, 2010
This was such delicious banana bread!!! I have 1 recipe that I always use thats really quick with bisquick & this by far tops it off!!!! The only changes I made was to use 3 ripe banana's which I'm pretty sure was more than 1 cup! I also used walnuts instead of pecans because thats what I had on hand. Then I sprinkled some sugar on top of the bread before I put it in the oven. Just something I had to do!!! It was DELICIOUS!!!!! I usually cover banana bread in butter but this was perfect as it was!! Just warm it up in the microwave & enjoy!!!! Thanks for the super recipe :-)

Ten Minute Enchilada Sauce

Reviewed: Nov. 11, 2011
This was great! I wanted to make enchilada's for dinner & realized I forgot to buy enchilada sauce so found this recipe & decided to try making it myself! It was great, just as good as from the store! I didn't have tomato sauce so instead used pizza sauce which was the closest thing I had (hey pizza sauce, tomato sauce its close enough!) I was nervous it would taste funny but my husband & I couldn't even tell! Also only had about 1/8th of a cup of chili powder left so just used that. Great recipe, I might make my own sauce from now on :-)

Toasted Garlic Bread

Reviewed: Apr. 18, 2011
OMG this was absolutley amazing! Way better than the frozen garlic breads I've bought in the past!! I doubled the garlic (which next time I will leave alone a little too much, but that was my fault) And I added parsley & a few shakes of Italian seasoning instead of the oregano! I Baked at 425 for 10 minutes & it was to die for!!!!!

Best Ever Crab Cakes

Reviewed: Jan. 16, 2011
These were really good! I made them tonight for dinner & they were very good! I doubled them & made them exactly as called for except I didn't have tarragon so I replaced it with crushed fresh garlic. Then I added 1 1/2 sleeves of crushed ritz crackers to the mixture cause it was very wet. After I mixed everything I formed patties & dipped it in italian bread crumbs to give it a coating. They were very good although I felt they could use a little sauce & the thought of mustard wasn't appealing so I will have to find a sauce for them, but other than that they were great!
