General Tsao's Chicken

Reviewed: Sep. 1, 2010
This was very good & made the whole house smell wonderful!!! I have another general tsao's recipe that isn't that good at all & will be making this one from now on! My husband & I both love this & always order it when we go out for chinese. It wasn't as good as take out but it was still good. My only changes were that I used 1/4 cup cornstarch like everyone else had mentioned cutting down on that. I also used powdered ginger cause thats what I had on hand & I only used 1 tsp (not a huge fan of it) I completley left out the MSG, didn't have any & don't like adding it to food anyways. I used the chicken broth room temp, didn't bother warming it up since you refrigerated the sauce when your done anyways & I used red pepper flakes in place of the peppers cause thats what I had on hand. Also stir fried this to save on fat & threw in some chopped carrots as well & served over white rice! It was very good!! Next time though I will cut back on the cornstarch in the breading for the chicken as well either that or replace it with flour. Overall very good though!

Spinach Enchiladas

Reviewed: Aug. 30, 2010
This was real good! My only complaint was my hubby thought it could use some chicken in it. I thought it was good as is...but the filling could have used a little more substance. I made exactly as the recipe stated except I used tomato & basil tortilla's & I made the creamy garlic sauce to top it. I did 2 tbsp butter 4 cloves garlic, 2 tbsp flour until it was thick then added milk as needed to thin it out. It was delicious!!! Next time I will add some chicken as well.

Marinated Tuna Steak

Reviewed: Aug. 28, 2010
This was pretty good....not the best fish recipe I've tried on here but it was still pretty good. I seared it on the stove instead of grilling it & also marinated it for about an hour. Other than that I made it exactly as written. It was good but I think next time I wont turn the stove up as high it was a bit too charred on top for me but other than that was good!

Ultimate Shrimp Scampi

Reviewed: Aug. 25, 2010
This was absolutely delicious & by far one of the best pasta recipes I've tried on the site!!!! The only change I made was that I threw in some scallops along with the shrimp because I had some leftover. Also I would use a tiny bit less pepper because it was a bit peppery for my husband & I's taste....other than that very tasty & quick dinner! Loved the hint of lemon it had in it...made it taste very fresh & summery!

Mrs. Sigg's Snickerdoodles

Reviewed: Aug. 24, 2010
Delicious!!! I use to make snickerdoodles with my dad all the time when I was younger & I can't find my recipe anywhere. This was such a great recipe! I didn't have any cream of tarter so I took someones advice on using lemon juice instead & it turned out great! Also as other reviewers mentioned they only need to be cooked for 8 min. only & taken out immediately even if they seem raw.....that keeps them soft & gooey in the middle just the way I like them!! My only minor problem was that when I opened my oven it was very smokey & set off the fire alarms......maybe the sugar/cinnamon mixture burning a bit on the bottom of the cookies?? Other than that little problem they tasted great!!!! I can't wait to make these fun cookies with my son when he gets a little older!!!

Broccoli Chicken Divan

Reviewed: Aug. 23, 2010
This was very good!! I only give 4 stars though because I think it would have been very bland & boring from the ingredients given had I not spruced it up a bit! What I did was steam the broccoli for 5 minutes & then put it in the pie pan. Then stir fried the chicken with some onions in olive oil & put that in with the broccoli & stirred it up. Then in a separate bowl mixed cream of mushroom soup with roasted garlic because thats what I had on hand. I mixed it with the milk, 1/2 cup sour cream, sprinkled not measured some garlic powder, a little white wine & a small handful of cheese. Then I spread the sauce on top & covered in cheese & breadcrumbs....I left out mixing the butter in the breadcrumbs & I didn't miss it at all! I served over white rice with a side of garlic bread for a delicious meal!!!

Sweet Spicy Wings

Reviewed: Aug. 7, 2010
These were sooo yummy!!! I made them with 2 bone in chicken breasts that I didn't know what to do with. I halved the sauce since I didn't have much chicken & I didn't bother simmering it on the stove. I lined a baking dish with aluminum foil for easy cleanup & mixed the sauce then poured it over my chicken. Baked it at 350 for 40 minutes then turned it up to 400 for 10 more minutes so the sauce would stick. It was delicious!!!! Thanks for the wonderful recipe....it tasted like my normal buffulo chicken recipe but with a little kick of sweetness! It was great :-)

Candied Kielbasa

Reviewed: Jul. 31, 2010
These were awesome!!! They were a tad on the sweet side but it made them good none the less!! I used only 2/3 cup brown sugar, 1/4 cup ketchup and 1/4 cup BBQ sauce, squirt dried mustard, a few shakes of Worcestershire sauce & left out the horseradish cause I didn't have any. I served over white rice with a side of broccoli for a very yummy dinner! It was a nice change from plain kielbasa!

This wasn't bad but it wasn't too special either. Was looking for something different & it was a nice change but I'll most likely stick to my normal pasta salad

Made these not too long ago they were ok but they could have been better. That was my fault though I don't think I rolled them out thin enough.

Mango Salsa

Reviewed: Jun. 26, 2010
I've never had a fresh mango before & perhaps I'm not a fan of it but my husband and I did not care for this at all! the combination of lemon lime didn't help! I put this over grilled chicken. Will not make again. :-( I've never given this bad of a review to anything I've tried on this site & I followed directions exactly!

Phyllo-Wrapped Halibut Fillets with Lemon Scallion Sauce

Reviewed: Jun. 23, 2010
I accidentally bought puff pastry instead of phyllo dough but it still turned out good. I added a little Montreal steak seasoning as someone suggested since I didn't feel as though just salt & pepper would give it enough flavor & didn't want it to be bland! It was good but the sauce was another story! It was WAY too sour, too much lemon! My husband made the worst face I've ever seen in my life lol & said it tasted like eating a really sour patch kid!!! Other than the sauce it was good :-)

This was really yummy!!! I made exactly as the recipe was with the exception of the bacon...which probably would have made it even better!! My only problem was it smelled wonderful & garlicy while cooking...but you couldn't taste the garlic much so I will add more next time! Overall great meal :-)

Overnight Blueberry French Toast

Reviewed: May 26, 2010
I made this with a loaf of day old Italian bread, it tasted good but was a little soggier than I like! My hubby had his wisdom teeth taken out a few days ago & enjoyed it since it was so soft (he was sick of yogurt & applesauce lol) So that was a plus!!! It was good just a tad too soggy for my liking....however the blueberry syrup was awesome!!!

This pie is awesome!! I used way more strawberries than called for I bought 2 quarts & used them all! Other than that I made exactly as the recipe was written. My hubby thought the top was a little too gelatin like but still said it was good! Great summer treat & it was delicious!
