About this Cook
My name is Jenn and I'm 26. I've been cooking since I was just a little girl, helping my mom around the kitchen and eventually cooking things by myself. I currently live in Kentucky with my boyfriend, who also loves to cook. We're constantly on the look out for tasty new recipes to try out and tweak to perfection. I love having dinner ready for him when he gets home from work, but I also love cooking with him. Every day should include a fun adventure in the kitchen!
My favorite things to cook
I love baking! I'm always looking for new cookie recipes, as well as new breads, cakes, pies, etc. I also like cooking for other people. Entertaining is a new found love of mine.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Every holiday my job has been making the deviled eggs. It's a quick and easy dish, but there's something so comforting about making them (and eating them!). To me, it's not a holiday without them.
My cooking triumphs
Whenever I perfect a recipe, figuring out exactly how much salt, removing an unneeded ingredient, adding a clove of garlic... Tasting something that the first time was an 'Mmmm' and now is a 'Wow!' is my idea of a triumph.
My cooking tragedies
Every Christmas I make assorted cookies to take to family events, charity events, and so on. Last year, my Mom asked me to bake my famous chocolate chip cookies (a recipe from the site, I might add). My sister was helping me, and in our laughter and talk, I completely forgot to add the baking powder to them, AND added too much flour. I didn't realize it until the first batch came out of the oven, puffy, weird looking, and tasting pretty gross. Needless to say, I ended up trashing the whole batch, then running to the store to buy more ingredients. My sister still won't let me forget it.

Shaved Brussels Sprouts with Bacon and Almonds
I'm one of those horrible grown ups who won't eat vegetables. And I ate these. And I liked them. My boyfriend said these were the highlight of his dinner. They really were that good. I used a mandolin slicer to shave them and it was very easy and they looked great. We will definitely be having these again, soon!

Rosemary Potatoes with Roasted Heads of Garlic
I meant to take a picture, but these smelled so wonderful cooking that we dove in as soon as they were out of the oven. I used dried rosemary because that's what I had on hand, and I halved the recipe since there were just two of us. I regret not making the full recipe because they were that good. I would recommend tossing the potatoes in the olive oil prior to dotting with butter and drizzling with white wine. That way you don't have any potatoes get dried out while roasting.

Yummy Honey Mustard Dipping Sauce
I keep some of this in the fridge at all times. It's good the day you make it, but it really is better the next day. I usually add a little more yellow mustard to it because we prefer it that way.
