Oat-N-Honey Bread

Reviewed: Oct. 27, 2005
My new favourite loaf. Using real buttermilk is essential. The first time I made this I soured regular milk with lemon juice and the bread did not rise as much, but it was still tasty. The honey makes the bread very fragrant.

Soft, Moist and Gooey Cinnamon Buns

Reviewed: Apr. 5, 2007
So delicious and satisfying. I found out I can make it into an impressive loaf by rolling the dough slightly thicker and to fit the length of a loaf pan--add the filling roll up and bake--yummy!

Orange Pull-Aparts

Reviewed: Apr. 6, 2008
Delicious! My two year old and four year old had fun helping me roll up the little balls of dough. I subbed out 1 cup of white flour for whole wheat and used a mixture of brown sugar and cinnamon to roll the little balls of dough in. I also added orange rind to the glaze. I will make this again for sure.

Bread Machine Pizza Dough

Reviewed: Apr. 6, 2008
This makes such a soft and tender crust. My new go-to pizza crust recipe. I only had non-alcoholic beer on hand to make this but it didn't seem to affect the recipe at all.

Clone of a Cinnabon

Reviewed: Aug. 29, 2008
Delicious! My tweaks: I like the taste of whole wheat flour so I subbed two cups of whole wheat for two cups of the white flour. I also sprinkled a big handful of chopped toasted pecans over the sugar/butter mix on the dough before rolling it up and slicing it. Someone else posted about tipping the buns out of the pan right after baking to get the syrup that flows out to go back into the buns and it works really well. The buns were so much moister. I iced the bottom of the buns and the syrupy stuff melted into the frosting which was so amazing.

Carrot Pudding

Reviewed: Dec. 4, 2008
I showed this recipe to my Grandma and she has a couple of comments: She adds 1/2 cup softened butter to the mix to help things stick together and she said that you should mix the potatoes and soda together and then add them after mixing the rest of the ingredients--doing this can improve the texture of the puddings. When I made this I doubled everything except the cloves. I also put this in canning jars to steam so it will keep until Christmas. One recipe fits into two pint jars filled 3/4 full.

Herman Pancakes

Reviewed: Mar. 3, 2011
My family loved these. I cut the oil in half and that was a mistake. The pancakes were dry and pasty. Next time, I will add at least 2/3 of the quantity specified.

Pecan Pie Muffins

Reviewed: Apr. 7, 2011
These are simply delicious and so quick and easy they can be whipped up for an impromptu coffee date with a friend. I used a silicone mini muffin pan that I sprayed with no-stick spray with added flour (Pam for Baking in Canada) and they popped right out of their little cups with no sticking at all.

Cranberry Nut Granola Bars

Reviewed: Jun. 4, 2011
This is one of the best granola bar recipes I have tried, and I have tried a lot. It doesn't fall apart when you cut it like so many do. Our school division is nut-free, so I subbed out all the nuts and seeds for a combination of coconut, Rice Krispies, chocolate chips and ground flax seed. I look forward to trying new combinations and adding nuts in over the summer holidays.
