Hariton's 'Famous' Vegetarian Casserole

Reviewed: Jul. 5, 2009
This smelled wonderful while it was cooking. I scaled the recipe down to feed two people. I think it was a bit too watery, but it was still pretty good.

Harissa

Very similar to what we have when we go to North Africa. It had great heat. We had it with lamb burgers. I can't wait to try it tomorrow with tuna.

Harira

We loved this one. One pot meals are such a breeze to clean up after. It was hearty and delicious. I didn't have a big enough pot, so I cut down a little bit on the water. It was probably a bit more concentrated than it should have been, but it was still yummy. I didn't have any vermicelli so I used orzo instead. I don't think the eggs added anything, so next time I will leave them out. They weren't bad, but I don't see the need for the extra cholesterol since there was already lamb. I had to use lamb chops, but they turned out very tender. I can't wait to have the leftovers tonight.

Happy Shrimp

Reviewed: Jun. 11, 2009
I used chicken bouillon instead of wine and increased the amounts of liquids to have enough sauce to cook the pasta in. I also increased the amount of cayenne for extra heat. I had to simmer it longer than planned, but it turned out amazing. Between the two of us, we polished off the whole thing. Next time, I'll definitely make more. I suspect this would be divine as leftovers. :)

Hamburger Goulash

Reviewed: Jun. 10, 2009
This was good, and better the second day. We liked it, but there wasn't really anything wow about it. I did add a bit of heat though for our preference. If I made it again, I might leave out the potatoes. It seemed like a lot of carbs.

Hamburger Fry Pan Supper

Reviewed: Jun. 3, 2009
This was okay as a base, but I had to add a couple of things to make it more to our liking. I added two tomatoes and a couple of chili peppers. My husband really liked it, but I was not a fan.

Hamburger Casserole

Reviewed: May 20, 2009
Unfortunately, after gathering all of the ingredients, I realized that I didn't have a baking dish I could use in the oven. I had to adapt, so I cooked up the beef, onion and celery in a pot with the taco seasoning, salt, pepper, and hot pepper flakes. Once the beef was cooked, I added the tomatoes and salsa, and simmered a bit. I added about a cup of water, kidney beans and corn. Finally, I through in the egg noodles and let them cook in the juices. I served it up with a dollop of sour cream, crushed tortilla chips and shredded cheese on top. It was so good, my husband and I each had two bowls! The best thing was, since I did have to modify the recipe, I had barely had any dishes to clean up at the end. :)

Chicken Lasagna II

The consistency was really good, but it was a bit bland for me. The green pepper didn't taste right ith this.

Hamburger Soup III

Reviewed: Apr. 17, 2009
This was a great base. I didn't have any broth so I added some water and taco seasoning to get the liquid I wanted. I cooked the meat and onions first and then simmered with the pasta and frozen veggies til the pasta was cooked.

This was great for a quick, healthy lunch. I did add a bit of broth to get a bit more topping, though.

Bombay Chicken and Rice

Reviewed: Feb. 22, 2009
This was delicious. I did, however, add a bit more spice for personal preference. I used chicken broth instead of water, but I would use a little less next time because my rice was just a bit more moist than I would have liked. The cooking time was perfect though. The chicken was very tender. A snap to clean up, too.

Bob Evans® Au Gratin Potatoes

Reviewed: Feb. 19, 2009
I was a bit skeptical about this recipe, but it turned out great. Next time I make it, I'll add a bit of spice. I think I'd add some more parmesan too, since I couldn't taste it.

Bermuda Fish Chowder

Reviewed: Sep. 14, 2008
I had to make do with the ingredients I had on hand, and I didn't have enough clam juice. I made up the difference with chicken broth. I think it would have been much better if I had had enough juice. I did add extra seafood though (bar clams, scallops, crab, shrimp) and used tilapia instead of snapper, since I didn't have any.

It's ok, but there's something missing. It just isn't as good as the gazpacho I used to eat in Spain.

Beef 'n' Cheese Macaroni

Reviewed: Sep. 7, 2008
This was ok, but it just wasn't really to our liking. We tried spicing it up a bit as some of the other reviewers suggested, but it didn't do it for us. I don't think there was enough cheese. My husband couldn't even tell there was any at all in it.

I used fresh fruit, added half a banana and a couple of spoons of yoghurt. It was by far the best smoothie I've ever had.

Bechamel Chicken Pasta

Reviewed: Sep. 1, 2008
This was just ok for me. It was a bit bland for all the prep and clean up time involved. I even tried to pep it up a bit by adding some hot sauce and extra spices. On the plus side, I was able to prepare it in advance and just pop it in the oven when we were ready to eat. Also, I the chicken breasts and whole wheat pasta didn't dry out.

Bean Quesadillas

Reviewed: Aug. 31, 2008
These were better than any I've had in restaurants. I added some spices to make it a bit hotter, and I baked the quesadillas instead of frying. Quick to make and easy to clean up.
