Slow Cooker Boneless Turkey Breast

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2014
I omit seasong packet and add broth or stock instead of water and use poultry seasoning with fresh poultry style herbs and use butter pats under skin and olive oil to season.

Peanut Butter Vegetable Chicken Soup

Reviewed: Sep. 28, 2014
Wasn't sure I would like this but wanted to give it a try...trying to low carb or Paleo it and thought this soup would fit the bill. I too was skeptical about the PB but I only added half the amount and tasted it while piping hot...I omitted potatoes and had no zucchini or broccoli and when it cooled down some it was very GOOD! two of us ate at least half of this I froze the rest and took some to work next day and it was AMAZING! Flavors must melt together more after sitting...thanks for a great soup recipe!

Wow -- just saw this same "type" of recipe featured on PBS 'Breakfast Special" and they showed a restaurant in Westerville Ohio I believe it was called Best Sandwiches (?) and the owner said the secret to the home fries is to put bacon drippings on them...made the difference!! thanks for sharing!

Banana Nut Bread

Reviewed: Jul. 24, 2010
Looking for a way to use up my 3 very ripe bananas--excellent recipe I had a Butter Recipe (yellow) cake mix (i did use the butter the box called for) and used all 3 bananas which i sprinkled liberally (1 tbsp?) of apple pie spice on (was out of just cinnamon) and took other reviewers notes and added 2 eggs and cooked in my bundt pan to make just one cake/bread--cooked at 335 for about 45 minutes--watching last 5 minutes...delicious!

Divine Hard-Boiled Eggs

Reviewed: Jul. 10, 2010
Major Tip for getting eggs to peel easily learned from PBS Test Kitchen show--put ALOT LIKE 4 TABLESPOONSFUL OF SALT IN pan (it will not affect taste) but any egg will peel beautifully--I have always made boiled eggs this way just read the recipe to see if they got it right!!

Creamy Chicken and Wild Rice Soup

Reviewed: Sep. 26, 2009
Wow DELICIOUS!! I followed other revieweres advice in and subsituted what I had: I sauteed 1/2 cup finely chopped celery + 1/3 cup onion and 1/3 cup carrots in 3 TBSP butter with 1/2 cup white wine til soft then added the vegies to step one directions (added to broth and chicken). I also didnt have cream on hand so subsituted a 12 ounce can of Carnation Evaportated milk. added maybe a 1/2 cup water to round out the measurements. I also only had Rice A Roni Brown Rice mix in the pantry so used that (about 1/2 cup rice) used whole seasoning packet though as directed in recipe. VERY EASY VERY HANDY recipe will use again and again! ****QUESTION.....AM never SURE ABOUT WHAT I CAN FREEZE SAFELY??? would appreciate comments on with these subsitutions can i freeze this soup?!?!? Great to have ready when you feel the winter crud coming on!! Thanks to all!

Spicy Baked Sweet Potato Fries

Reviewed: May 28, 2007
As per previous reviewers stated lower oven temp--I also changed spices up and have been making them as potato round with my crinkle cutter for years using just enough olive oil to toss with paprika spinkled on (sounds odd but its good!) have also just used french fry seasoning on them. Dunk in ketchup as desired! I swear by using Reynolds non stick foil and can get by with less olive oil--they get crisp faster with less oil and less baking!

Peach Pie

YUM!! ALSO A 1ST TIME PIE BAKER-MOM WAS/IS THE SUPREME SCRATCH BAKER SO I NEVER BOTHERED TO TRY--HAD EXCESS OF FRESH PEACHES-DID AS OTHER REVIEWERS STATED USED 1/2 BROWN & 1/2 WHITE SUGAR ALSO ADDED APPROX 1 TSP CINNAMON TO SUGAR MIXTURE AND FOR FEAR OF WATERY TEXTURE ADDED 1 HEAPING TBSP CORNSTARCH TO FLOUR ---GREAT TASTE AND WILL DEFINTELY MAKE AGAIN--CURIOUS AS TO IF ANYONE ELSE HAS A SIMILAR APPLE TAKE ON THIS?? I ALSO CHEATED AND USED PILLSBURY PIE CRUSTS--AND TURNED OVEN UP TO 450 (WILL TRY JUST 425 NEXT TIME) FOR 15 MIN THEN DOWN TO 350 NEXT 30 MIN--DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY SUGGESTIONS FOR HOW TO NOT GET YOUR CRUST EDGINGS BURNT--USING ONE OF THOSE PIE CRUST GUARDS TO NO AVAIL! GREAT RECIPE WITH THE TWEAKS--THANKS!

Iowa Pork Steak

Reviewed: Apr. 30, 2006
Thanks for a great way to cook pork steaks!! (had always cooked them under the broiler but hated the mess!) followed the recipe except only used 1 can mushrooms and didn't have onion soup mix so subsituted a dry onion gravy mix packet--worked wonderful great way to tenderize this meat and would absolutely make again!! I also read the review who thought it made too much gravy--my suggestion if you love gravy over potatoes/rice/noodles DO NOT decrease the water amount--I did and would have easily utilized the additional gravy.

Cinnamon-Roasted Almonds

Reviewed: Dec. 11, 2005
We're NOT worthy We're not worthy... AAHHH went to get this recipe for a co-worker (made them for holidays and have been "advised" to make them again) and started to salivate thinking of them! Also added 1/2 cup brown sugar & vanilla to egg white on second batch really did make them perfect! I also am a firm believer in easy and Reynolds non stick foil is perfect in this recipe! no mess and the nuts come off with ease after drying and hardening(YUM!) oddly enough I was looking for a recipe initially that was like the mall nuts--but found I LOVED this on pecans even better--thought maybe peanuts would be good--no dont try it not good on peanuts!
