Quinoa Porridge with Cinnamon Apples

Reviewed: Dec. 5, 2012
My children took one look at this and started to cry until I forced them to smell it. Then they cleaned their bowls! I liked how another reviewer said to add raisins. I'll try that next time. Thanks for a nice recipe!

Oven BBQ Chicken Drumsticks

Reviewed: Nov. 15, 2012
My husband kept repeating this, like a man gone crazy.. "this is so good!" Just over and over. For the kids I left out the chili powder. I liked what another reviewer said, it's definitely restaurant quality. We will be keeping this recipe close at hand.

Shrimp Fettucine

Reviewed: Feb. 22, 2011
I have 4 kids 6 and under, and while they approached the table with their noses scrunched up and saying 'aw, no!!' they cleaned their plates TWICE! This recipe is a keeper for sure. I fixed it exactly as the recipe says. My husband also says it beats our other favorite, shrimp alfredo. Thanks!!

Chewy Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 9, 2007
Yes, these cookies are the best! I made one change which was to use 1 cup peanut butter instead of 1/2. The texture is like chewy chips ahoy cookies, and they are also better the next day. Some experimenting led me to reduce them to half the stated size. They do not spread, so flatten them unless you like a tall drop cookie.

Slow Cooker Chicken and Dumplings

Reviewed: Nov. 4, 2007
I made modifications to this recipe as others had suggested and only Grandad liked it. I added a can of chicken broth instead of water. Well, it was grossly salty for my taste. I guess that's not being totally fair as for rating it since I made changes... sorry. Be sure to give the dumplings plenty of time to cook.

Dutch Cream Waffles

Reviewed: Aug. 29, 2007
This recipe took at least 3 bowls... It seems quite complex the way it's written. I think the order of the recipe makes extra mess. The waffles came out fine and we enjoyed them but I will use a simpler recipe next time because this recipe just isn't worth the work for me. I did add tiny chocolate chips to some of the waffles and that was VERY fun.

Lisa's Chocolate Chocolate Chip Cake

Reviewed: Aug. 3, 2007
Outrageous cake! I fixed this as a single layer sheet cake for my husband's birthday, topped with cool whip and accompanied by a raspberry reduction sauce. I used Duncan Heinz Devils Cake mix. It was so good that my husband is still talking about it weeks later. We still have some in the fridge and he returns to it raving about how it has kept moist and is the best birthday cake anyone has ever made him in 30 years, "and many people have tried" he says. Well, I think it's gross to eat any cake after that long so I'll have to be making it again soon!

Deluxe Waffles

Reviewed: Aug. 3, 2007
Yum! Tender spongey waffle. My one year old baby would like this waffle with strawberry and maple syrup for dinner EVERY NIGHT forever. It took 3 bowls to mix but it was very easy and both the one year old and my two year old enjoyed helping. We will be making this recipe again.

Beth's Spicy Oatmeal Raisin Cookies

Reviewed: Jun. 19, 2007
This recipe IS good but it is not the final word on oatmeal raisin cookies. My family enjoyed it for variety but we have another favorite. We used 3/4 cup butter instead of shortening for health reasons, so perhaps that is what keeps it from being the best (though we NEVER use shortening for anything). The cookies were nice and soft and chewy and the spices lend an "interesting" flavor- as my two year old says.

Good Old Fashioned Pancakes

Reviewed: Jun. 18, 2007
Well I'm confused. I have made this recipe several times and we liked it pretty well, so when a user suggested it was bitter and she fixed that my changing the recipe to 1 tsp baking powder and 1 tsp baking soda I was ready to experiment. However, this changed the pancakes dramatically from very fluffy to chewy and flat. I think there may be something to tweaking the amount of baking powder, but this is not the best solution.

Oven Roasted Potatoes

Reviewed: Mar. 3, 2007
We made these potatoes one night and liked them so well that we fixed them the next night again and then put potatoes on the grocery list so we can continue to fix them regularly! We used red potatoes. This is a very easy and tasty recipe. The best. I think they would hold in a hot oven for a long time.

Fried Chicken Tenders

Reviewed: Feb. 12, 2007
Yes. Very good. I didn't have italian bread crumbs so I used plain, and instead of water with the egg, I used italian dressing. Don't know if that really helped it but it was good!

Austrian Pancake

Reviewed: Oct. 17, 2006
I tested this recipe 4 months ago and now I am forced to fix this pancake for my family weekly! It is so easy, much easier than conventional pancakes since it's all done in the cast iron skillet. And it's even BETTER the next day. I always serve it with frozen blueberries warmed in syrup. It is the BEST!
