Italian Restaurant-Style Salad Dressing II

Reviewed: Dec. 29, 2010
I forgot to review this, and made it like last year for the first time! I loved it...and make it often since! It's sooo good that we eat it with raw veggies! Found my daughter licking it. Wouldn't change a thing!

Slow Cooker Taco Soup

Reviewed: Sep. 13, 2011
OK...I planned this meal for my family. However, my husband decided he would put it together while I was at work instead of me. I was worried. I showed him the recipe...but he never read any of the alterations. So, he made it exactly like they said to. Well...he had already eaten 1/3 of it before I even got home for dinner. He has since been eating it out of the pot..while it is still cooking. He loves it. He's planning on making this for all of the guys at work. Yes...I would say 5 stars! haha Next time I wouldn't mind doing some of the changes to see if it's even better...but just as is...it's great. :)

Jill's Summer Sangria

Reviewed: Dec. 24, 2011
This was fantastic! I used half of the rum. That was the ONLY difference. It certainly gave us a buzz with half of the rum (can't imagine what it would have been like over here if we had it all!). Had a Christmas family get-together and my biggest critic had several glasses of it! :) Would certainly make again!

Cranberry Salsa

Reviewed: Dec. 25, 2011
MD Anderson suggests this for healthy living to their cancer patients. It's fantastic! My mother lost the recipe and said that this one is close enough. Cut the sugar and instead of the limes, she uses orange zest. No liquid. We leave off the jalapenos for a more mild salsa...but personally...I like the jalapenos! Pour over cream cheese for sure! However, I could just eat this with a spoon! :)

Awesome Slow Cooker Pot Roast

Reviewed: Mar. 3, 2012
Don't listen to the one's saying it's too much gravy!! It was perfect...especially since it was so good that my family stood over the pot with spoons treating it like a soup! AND just so you know, I didn't change one thing! I added the exact amount of the recipe...with a splash of wine since I love wine! PERFECT! I consider this...comfort food!! Had it cooking all day while contractors roamed through the house...dying over the wonderful fragrance!!!

Chicken and Peppers with Balsamic Vinegar

Reviewed: Aug. 25, 2012
I personally loved this! My husband would give 4 stars...but I'm giving 5 stars because he doesn't matter when it comes to rating these things. I, also, put in red pepper flakes because we enjoy spicy things. He put some soy sauce on his after it was all done and went on and on about how it made it perfect. I didn't. It was fabulous!!! The red pepper flakes was the ONLY thing that I did different!

Zesty Slow Cooker Chicken Barbecue

Reviewed: Sep. 3, 2012
As a lot of people know...I rate based on whether my husband and/or kids enjoy it because they are so picky. My husband began eating the liquid like it was soup out of the pot before I could even serve it! He LOVED it! I didn't change one thing! Here is how I served it: I separated the chicken from the liquid and shredded it. I served it on sub rolls and poured the juice into small individual bowls for dipping the sandwiches in. Sort of like...French Dip. Was great!!!

Roast Beef and Gravy

Reviewed: Jan. 1, 2013
The gravy can be eaten all by itself it's so wonderful! I pretty much followed the recipe EXCEPT I had to use a BEEF onion soup mix because my grocery store was out of the other. I also used sherry. So...if you're wondering how the sherry was with this...it's fabulous! I don't get the negative comment about it being dry, no flavor, and burned the crock pot...because NONE of that happened with me...and I'm not that good of a cook. Beef broth MAY be less flavorfull...and the cut of meat makes a huge difference as to the dryness of it. I used a chuck roast boneless...and it was a bit tough...but it was totally the cut. Yes...will make it again. Too easy and perfect...lots of gravy.

Irish Potato Candy

Reviewed: Mar. 5, 2013
OK...so I almost gave it 4 stars because it is not easy to use and handle. My 10 year old little girl needed something for "culture" day at school...we chose this. Best advice? Put in freezer or fridge between each step! I read that and was so glad I did! Also...I mixed together cinnamon, cocoa, and powdered sugar for the end step. I tried to throw them in a ziplock bag and shake like someone suggested but they came out looking like poo. I spread them out on a large cookie sheet and "sprinkled" the mix all over them...turning them a few times. THEN they looked more like potatoes instead of poo. I HAD to keep them cold...or they became a mushy mess. By mid-day...even in a cooler with an ice block...they were all mushed together. What was left at the end of the day...my family and I dug in with spoons! ;-) Tastes great...just hard to handle.

Mrs. Sigg's Snickerdoodles

Reviewed: Mar. 15, 2013
I added green food coloring to make them green for St. Patrick's day...and threw some green beads into the pan with them. Taking them to the party...if I can keep my family out of them! Nope...not flat. Use NEW baking soda and you should have perfect one's...like I do. I uploaded a picture of them on here too. Happy St. Patrick's Day from this Irish woman (who didn't make Irish cookies haha)! ****UPDATE**** It's a year later and I'm going to the same party and those cookies have been requested!!! They were GONE before the party was over!!! The best recipe I've EVER used for these!

Meatball Nirvana

Used deer meat because...well...we are hunters. Guess what? FABULOUS! We were worried using deer meat because it sometimes doesn't work for some recipes. However, this was fabulous 100%! Followed recipe exactly...no changes. First time to ever make meatballs too!

Slow Cooker Chicken Taco Soup

Reviewed: May 21, 2013
The ONLY thing I would do differently...is add salt! THAT'S IT! I followed the recipe exactly like it says...but cooked it on low a little longer because I was at work all day. I used a very light beer, since that was all I had, and would probably use a stronger one next time. HOWEVER...we could still taste the hint of the beer flavor and loved it! Those saying they couldn't taste it...must not recognize it like we do. ;-) It's good...and my biggest critic...husband...loved it!

Basil Chicken over Angel Hair

Reviewed: May 30, 2013
As I type this...the very picky husband is getting another helping. I used 2 cloves of garlic, minced. Used two cans of tomato, basil, and garlic...drained...like others said. I gave it a splash or two of white wine. It was PERFECT! Easy too...after a long day of work. Will be making this many times...

Kiki's Borracho (Drunken) Beans

I need to add to my original review...that I used Coors Light instead of a dark beer. We always just use a light beer. Still fabulous.

Slow Cooker Carolina BBQ

Reviewed: Jun. 24, 2013
OK...This Texas BBQ girl was looking for something different. We own a ranch...and BBQ is our thing. There sat my biggest critics...dad and hubby. They hated the smell...hated everything about what I was doing. UNTIL...they took a bite. They laughed. Not bad...and told me to give it 5 stars and make it again. These Texas boys were hooked on some "northern" BBQ. You HAVE to add the liquid smoke...or it isn't worth eating. I added probably 4 or more tablespoons for a 4 pound pork. I also made it with white vinegar and cooked on high for 6 hours. Enjoy...even if you're from the BBQ wild west of Texas...it's good!!!!

Shepherd's Pie VI

Reviewed: Aug. 26, 2013
OH MY GOSH!!! This was SO GOOD! We recently ate at a very popular highly recommended Irish pub and my husband had ordered this. It was so good that we wanted to make it again. Found this recipe and did what the others said...used some frozen carrots and peas instead...and just threw them on there...no mashing. Also used a package of brown gravy mixed in one cup of water. Everything else the same. FANTASTIC!!!! MUCH better than the Irish pub even! My Irish mom is requesting the recipe! :) Will be making more of this!!!!

Ultimate Twice Baked Potatoes

Made these for a huge Christmas dinner. First time to ever make these and my dad stood over me making sure I didn't do it wrong. He was impressed. Good recipe. Easy to follow. Cooked them in the microwave first until the were ALMOST done...but not quite. Finished in oven. Much faster...same results. :)

Deep Fried Dill Pickles

Reviewed: Sep. 4, 2011
Pretty darn good. :) I've made fried pickles before but thought I'd try this out for a change. I didn't totally follow the recipe because I was in a hurry...but they were great and would be better if I had! (Forgot the salt...needed salt!) My little boy ate them like he would chips. He's my tester. I would add more hot stuff next time because I love the HEAT...but they were perfect just the way they are!

Daria's Slow Cooker Beef Stroganoff

Reviewed: Mar. 13, 2014
I saw how so many people made changes. I really didn't. I left out the mushrooms because I didn't have any. I doubled the meat and added a bit more of the sauce...not quite doubled. I doubled the wine (instead of water), the garlic, Lea and Perrins, etc. Just made...more. The only difference I made was we felt it needed more salt! I made it with white wine...but normally with beef it should be red wine...so I'm trying that next time. OH! I did make one big change...used deer stew meat instead! It's what this Texas girl already has in her freezer! Good stuff. Even hubby was eating it out of the pot...which makes me mad...
