Easy Strawberry Mousse

Reviewed: Apr. 12, 2009
Well...my mother, who is an awesome cook, and I made this together on Easter. We followed it by the letter. Then...my entire family, including extended family, all sat around a big table and tried it. It was not exactly what we were expecting. Not really what we would call a Mousse. It tasted more like a whipped cheesecake without the pie crust. I'm thinking about trying that next time.

Slow Cooker Spare Ribs

Reviewed: Aug. 2, 2010
I am not the best cook (according to my husband) so if I can pull something off that the family enjoys, then it's a winner! I followed the changes I recently read, and added the ketchup, cooked it later at 400 degrees for 10 minutes, and thickened up the sauce with cornstarch. It turned out pretty darn good! I'm a teacher, so coming home to this already done was not bad!!! Also, someone wrote about greasy sauce in the pan...mine was too until I thickened it on the stove...and it was so good, that I just stood there eating it with a spoon!!!! Husband approved!!!

Slow Cooker Taco Soup

Reviewed: Sep. 13, 2011
OK...I planned this meal for my family. However, my husband decided he would put it together while I was at work instead of me. I was worried. I showed him the recipe...but he never read any of the alterations. So, he made it exactly like they said to. Well...he had already eaten 1/3 of it before I even got home for dinner. He has since been eating it out of the pot..while it is still cooking. He loves it. He's planning on making this for all of the guys at work. Yes...I would say 5 stars! haha Next time I wouldn't mind doing some of the changes to see if it's even better...but just as is...it's great. :)

Cranberry Salsa

Reviewed: Dec. 25, 2011
MD Anderson suggests this for healthy living to their cancer patients. It's fantastic! My mother lost the recipe and said that this one is close enough. Cut the sugar and instead of the limes, she uses orange zest. No liquid. We leave off the jalapenos for a more mild salsa...but personally...I like the jalapenos! Pour over cream cheese for sure! However, I could just eat this with a spoon! :)

Irish Potato Candy

Reviewed: Mar. 5, 2013
OK...so I almost gave it 4 stars because it is not easy to use and handle. My 10 year old little girl needed something for "culture" day at school...we chose this. Best advice? Put in freezer or fridge between each step! I read that and was so glad I did! Also...I mixed together cinnamon, cocoa, and powdered sugar for the end step. I tried to throw them in a ziplock bag and shake like someone suggested but they came out looking like poo. I spread them out on a large cookie sheet and "sprinkled" the mix all over them...turning them a few times. THEN they looked more like potatoes instead of poo. I HAD to keep them cold...or they became a mushy mess. By mid-day...even in a cooler with an ice block...they were all mushed together. What was left at the end of the day...my family and I dug in with spoons! ;-) Tastes great...just hard to handle.

Perfect Perfect Perfect! Would not change ONE THING! Well...I did put a beef boullion cube in there since I was serving it with beef. SO perfect that we ate them all by themselves! Totally taste like French Onion Soup! I will certainly make these again! EASY EASY EASY!!!

Awesome Slow Cooker Pot Roast

Reviewed: Mar. 3, 2012
Don't listen to the one's saying it's too much gravy!! It was perfect...especially since it was so good that my family stood over the pot with spoons treating it like a soup! AND just so you know, I didn't change one thing! I added the exact amount of the recipe...with a splash of wine since I love wine! PERFECT! I consider this...comfort food!! Had it cooking all day while contractors roamed through the house...dying over the wonderful fragrance!!!

Italian Restaurant-Style Salad Dressing II

Reviewed: Dec. 29, 2010
I forgot to review this, and made it like last year for the first time! I loved it...and make it often since! It's sooo good that we eat it with raw veggies! Found my daughter licking it. Wouldn't change a thing!

Jalapeno Chicken II

Reviewed: Dec. 29, 2010
I made these for a Christmas dinner recently, and they were a huge hit! Nothing was left! Even my son, who was home on leave from the Air Force, and his friends, loved them! The only difference was that I cut the chicken breasts in strips...thick strips, and followed the recipe. I used fresh and pickled jalapenos...and you couldn't tell the difference! I was going to go with Mexican cheese, but the cream cheese was excellent! They were more like poppers when I was done. WILL be doing this again!!!!

Slow Cooker Pineapple Pork Roast

I made this exactly like the recipe. I normally do NOT cook with fruit...since it sounds strange to us...but my husband LOVED this! It had a good sauce to it as well!!! Would make this again, and even shared this recipe with my mother!

Slow Cooker Carolina BBQ

Reviewed: Jun. 24, 2013
OK...This Texas BBQ girl was looking for something different. We own a ranch...and BBQ is our thing. There sat my biggest critics...dad and hubby. They hated the smell...hated everything about what I was doing. UNTIL...they took a bite. They laughed. Not bad...and told me to give it 5 stars and make it again. These Texas boys were hooked on some "northern" BBQ. You HAVE to add the liquid smoke...or it isn't worth eating. I added probably 4 or more tablespoons for a 4 pound pork. I also made it with white vinegar and cooked on high for 6 hours. Enjoy...even if you're from the BBQ wild west of Texas...it's good!!!!

Basil Chicken over Angel Hair

Reviewed: May 30, 2013
As I type this...the very picky husband is getting another helping. I used 2 cloves of garlic, minced. Used two cans of tomato, basil, and garlic...drained...like others said. I gave it a splash or two of white wine. It was PERFECT! Easy too...after a long day of work. Will be making this many times...

Slow Cooker Chicken Taco Soup

Reviewed: May 21, 2013
The ONLY thing I would do differently...is add salt! THAT'S IT! I followed the recipe exactly like it says...but cooked it on low a little longer because I was at work all day. I used a very light beer, since that was all I had, and would probably use a stronger one next time. HOWEVER...we could still taste the hint of the beer flavor and loved it! Those saying they couldn't taste it...must not recognize it like we do. ;-) It's good...and my biggest critic...husband...loved it!

Roast Beef and Gravy

Reviewed: Jan. 1, 2013
The gravy can be eaten all by itself it's so wonderful! I pretty much followed the recipe EXCEPT I had to use a BEEF onion soup mix because my grocery store was out of the other. I also used sherry. So...if you're wondering how the sherry was with this...it's fabulous! I don't get the negative comment about it being dry, no flavor, and burned the crock pot...because NONE of that happened with me...and I'm not that good of a cook. Beef broth MAY be less flavorfull...and the cut of meat makes a huge difference as to the dryness of it. I used a chuck roast boneless...and it was a bit tough...but it was totally the cut. Yes...will make it again. Too easy and perfect...lots of gravy.

Jill's Summer Sangria

Reviewed: Dec. 24, 2011
This was fantastic! I used half of the rum. That was the ONLY difference. It certainly gave us a buzz with half of the rum (can't imagine what it would have been like over here if we had it all!). Had a Christmas family get-together and my biggest critic had several glasses of it! :) Would certainly make again!

Turkey Cutlets with Tomato Sauce

Reviewed: Jan. 15, 2011
OK...I hate it when people take a recipe and totally change it. HOWEVER, I had to this time. I used what I had. Recently, my husband went hunting and came home with 3 HUGE bucks. Needless to say, I have deer meat out the rear. I chose deer meat cutlets for this. Cooked it just like it said. I did use a bit of olive oil with a bit of butter to help with my health! I made the sauce without rosemary, since my husband failed to tell me he used it all already, and I had no mushrooms. Everything else was the same. Being that I had to omit some of the ingredients, and it still turned out AWESOME, I had to give it 5 stars! My husband just stood there eating and eating before even sitting down at the table. Will do again and again!!!

Chicken Tequila Fettuccini

Reviewed: Oct. 26, 2005
I made this for several family members when on vacation. Was a bit of time consuming...but worth all of the time. Allow plenty of time. I have been told that I'm a bad cook, and I was able to do this...anyone can! My stepmother also made this, and loved it. She made it for a dinner party.

Daria's Slow Cooker Beef Stroganoff

Reviewed: Mar. 13, 2014
I saw how so many people made changes. I really didn't. I left out the mushrooms because I didn't have any. I doubled the meat and added a bit more of the sauce...not quite doubled. I doubled the wine (instead of water), the garlic, Lea and Perrins, etc. Just made...more. The only difference I made was we felt it needed more salt! I made it with white wine...but normally with beef it should be red wine...so I'm trying that next time. OH! I did make one big change...used deer stew meat instead! It's what this Texas girl already has in her freezer! Good stuff. Even hubby was eating it out of the pot...which makes me mad...
