Tiramisu Bowl

Fabulous I just made a few changes. I used kraft coolwhip extra creamy and cook and serve vanilla pudding for the custard mix to give it more of that restuarant type taste I would test taste the custard with half the pudding reccomend and the continue based on your own preference for sweetness. I also used khaula coffee liquor instead of coffee to flavor the nilla wafers and topped it with regular cook whip and left some mixed berries in a serving dish. some of my guest liked berries others liked it plane but desert didn't last two hours. some guests had 4th's. Next time i'll make more layers with more cookies because I liked the coffee liquior with the cookies.

Spicy Vegetarian Lasagna

I use this particular recipe as my base anytime I make Veg. Lasagna and it always turns out great. The kick from the red pepper flakes perfectly compliments the cheese and veggies. my only problem with the exact recipe is it has a lot of juice in the bottom of the pan when made to these exact directions that I just drain out the corner of the pan a little. I eyeball the amount of peppers, use zucchini, spinach and sometimes carrots. I also do not use the tomato paste and water. I sometimes just sauté the onions, garlic and peppers leaving out the tomatoes. It still turns out great with a little less juice its also a great base recipe for spinach lasagna. If you want softer zucchini sauté it with the peppers. So my overall suggested changes would be as follows: Saute onions, garlic, peppers and zucchini use your favorite spaghetti sauce in place of the pepper mixture mentioned here. Layer the mixture and maybe add in spinach if you like. This makes for a more flavorful lasagna as the original as others have mentioned is more like 4 pepper lasagna. The more red pepper flakes you add the spicier it will be if your finding it is not spicy enough for you add more.

Salmon Marinade

Okay 1/4 of a cup of lime is a little much however the person who said lime shouldn't be near salom is a crazy. If you travel to costal regions and on many islands lime or lemons are used to clean and flavor fish of all sorts and it does leave a nice flavor. I took half a lime and squeezed it over the fillets then rubbed it over the salmon before placing it in the other ingredients to marinade therefore eliminating the need for the 1/4 cup lime juice.

Fried Chicken

I can't stress this enough an Iron skillet really does change the quality. I asked my great aunt once what she did to make her chicken taste so good and it was basically this recipe and a cast iron skillet. I like extra flavor so I add Black Pepper & Cayenne to taste.

Funnel Cakes

I saw one review that said this was bad... whoever that was probably just didn't follow directions. I cut this recipe in half when I made mine. You really have to make sure the egg and milk are mixed together well. It turned out delish just like the one's I use to get as a kid at the fair! Simple and quick to make.

Spinach Cheese Manicotti

I made this for dinner it was delicious. I did make some changes though I sautéed onions, parsley and minced garlic in light olive oil and added half teaspoon crushed red pepper. I only put half the sauce in the bottom with water and the rest of the sauce (no water) on top of the manicotti and added the mozzarella on top the last 10 minutes. It took 60 minutes total to bake. The shells were so much easier to stuff this way.

Tiramisu Bowl: Serve it Your Way!

This is a great substitute when you want tiramisu but half the work though it doesn't taste exactly the same but its a great desert. The coffee flavor of the Nilla wafers is a nice contrast to the rich decadent layer of cream cheese mixture. With chocolate and berries to accent it all you really just can't go wrong. I've made this several times and its always a hit at dinner parties. Coffee liquor is also a nice touch if you drizzle the wafers with it either in place of or along with brewed coffee. I debated giving this one a full 5 stars only because it is just slightly similar to the original tiramisu.

Amazing Chicken

Don't worry if you don't like Mayo neither do I. You can't taste the mayo it just locks in the juice and flavor. It usually takes longer than 30 mins to cook though. What I love about this recipe is its easy, it tastes soo good & can be adapted to your tastes. the 1st time I made it I added a pinch of red pepper to give it a little kick, my bf likes it with rosemary. Add whatever you like its great original as well. To make clean up a little easier I put mayo on one paper plate and the crumbs on another them dip each piece in order and place it in the baking pan. then all I have to do is toss the plats and chicken container with no dishes to worry about. It is one of the only recipies that hasn't irratated my sense of smell since I 've been pregnant.

Mayan Hot Chocolate

I just made this for small tea cup sized portions. I didn't have cocoa mix on hand so I used cocoa and sugar as follows (again this is for small china tea cups 1 serving) 1 full tea cup milk, 1 teaspoon cocoa powder, 1 pinch cinnamon, 1 pinch red chili powder heated on lowest setting over gas stove for about 2-3 minutes or until almost at a boil! It really does taste like some of the hot cocoa I had in Mexico... I tried abuelita expecting similar things and was disappointed, this is perfect. It has a robust complex flavor and goes well with marshmallow cream if you want a little extra sweetness. Whipped cream if you have it will be more complimenting.

The Best Banana Bread

This is a hit every time I make it however I thought the original recipe was a bit bland so I've always made the following adjustments Add: 1 tsp Vanilla, 1 tsp cinnamon and nuts if you like. Its Dense and moist and hits the spot when your looking for something to snack on that's not so dessert like but still sweet. I often gift them

The Best Zucchini Fritters Ever

I just finished making these as a midnight snack. I used fresh chopped garlic as I didn't have the powder on had and did 1/2 cup flour 1/2 cup seasoned bread crumbs I found 2 eggs to be more than enough (I made half a batch) I did not use the milk and added a teaspoon sugar. They were crispy, flavor full and a great snack. I would recommend serving with a dipping sauce if your using them as an appetizer

Yellow Dhal - Sweet Potato Soup

I followed the directions but added some extras as I'm fond of Asian food and thought there would be a few ways to kick this one up a bit. added about 1 tsp pre chopped garlic and the 1/4 tsp chopped ginger, 2 pinches of masala, to the soup while the onions and jalapeños caramelized a bit. I'm not a huge fan of cilantro so I added one or two bits chopped. I noticed in the other picture the person didn't mash the sweet potatoes. This gives the soup a nice creamy texture and is very hearty. Overall I loved it and will repeat!

Irish Soda Bread

Fabulous! I only used 3 cups flour and 2-2 1/2 cups skim milk eye balling it until the dough was sticky. I also added 1 -2 teaspoons caraway seeds. I would suggest cooking on a lower heat so the middle cooks through. Some guested had never had caraway seeds so the 1st bite I had a guest say she didn't care for the seeds by the time she finished that piece she changed her mind and had 4 slices total.

Party Punch VI

I used this punch at my wedding. We couldn't find strawberry sherbert so we used raspberry (which is the flavor I had the 1st time I tried this type of punch) It turned out wonderful. The one in the punch fountain was not frothy because of the circulation of punch but still wonderful. The punch fountain had enough for 50 people (we had 26 at the reception) and it was gone in less than an hour. Everyone wanted the recipe!

Green Bean Casserole II

I believe this pretty close if not the exact recipie from the french's french fried onions container. WE LOVE IT! I always add a little more onions because I like them. The french's cheddar flavored french fried onions are also great for a little extra flavor.

German Apple Dapple Cake

This is the 2nd time I have made a German Apple Cake. The first was using a different recipe in a cooking class. I followed this exactly as it is written here only in both cases the cakes took 1 hr to bake. Its worth the wait! Delicious it wasn't dry or overly mushy. If you want a sweet dessert do not skip the caramel sauce as the cake itself is not that sweet (this may depend on sweetness of your apples too I guess). I drizzled the cake with about a quarter of the caramel sauce and then reserved the rest in a small container in case others need more. I did myself once go back and get more sauce. Its great with whipped topping and if you didn't have caramel sauce whipped topping would make a good (less sweet) substitute.

Lentil Loaf

I just had this for dinner and it will def. be a repeat I made a few changes to work with what I had on hand and it turned out amazing. small pieces of lightly toasted english muffin in place of bread crumbs 1 tsp minced garlic in olive oil in place of garlic powder Half a packet of onion soup in place of veg mix 1/2 c broth 1/2 cup water to reduce the saltiness skipped the tomato past and used ketchup as per other reviewers suggestions. I also used brown lentils. It tastes amazing and would probably work great for baked veg burgers too!

Corned Beef and Cabbage II

This was fabulous. I had to hide a plate for a friend who was late for dinner. I cooked mine in stock pot on a rolling boil for 30 minutes and then on lo - med for 3 hrs. I also added extra peppercorns and a table spoon of garlic then added the veggies about 20-30 mins before it was finished depening on how tender you like your veggies. The meat was so tender it fell apart when we were cutting it and soo flavorful. Homemade Black Bean Veggie Burgers

I am eating one of these right now & its delicious! Will def repeat. As far as getting them to stay together I had no problems I simply grated the onion, finely chopped the green pepper and used a garlic paste. Also as other users suggested I used a little more than double the bread crumbs if you cook veg food often you know you have to eyeball the bread crumbs it doesn't compromise the flavor at all! I was curious as to whether or not frying vs. Baking had any difference in them staying together so I fried half my batch and baked half both stayed together perfectly!
