Hello!
About this Cook
I am a wife and Mom of one. My husband and I operate a home based catering business in GA. We relocated from CA 3 years ago and have not looked back since. I like to cook but my dream is to open a coffee and gourmet sandwich house.
My favorite things to cook
Mediterranean food, carribean cuisine, sauteed kale and collard greens, curry chicken, chicken cacciatore w/ baked garlic mashed potatoes, cookies, cookies and more cookies!
My favorite family cooking traditions
2-3 turkeys on Thanksgiving Day, each prepared a different way, Soul Food Sundays and food themed Christmas Eve parties.
My cooking triumphs
Catering my sisters wedding. We had authentic African cuisine along with a couple of American dishes. She was very happy and people still ask me how I knew where to get all the ethnic spices!
My cooking tragedies
The first time I made Indian food it was so hot / spicy that we could not eat it. Sorry, Grandma!

Mom's Simple Dumplings
These dumplings were delicious! I used self rising flour, used butter instead of shortening, added finely shredded colby jack cheese, about 4 tbs, garlic powder and parsley flakes. I did not add any salt. Awesome on top of my lemon chicken stew!

Grandma's Baking Powder Biscuits
I just pulled these out of the oven. I loved the textures;short on the outside but melt in your mouth softness on the inside! I substituted light brown sugar for one of the tbs and used 1/4 c butter and a 1/4 c of Crisco. I also added 1/8 tsp cinnamon to give it a hearty flavor. I am having one with a cup of coffee as I type!
