Crab Dip

Reviewed: Nov. 25, 2003
I gave this 4 stars instead of 5 because I added a few things to it to make it a little tastier. It was a little bland on it's own. I reduced the cream cheese to 8 oz, and increased the mayo to 3 4ths of a cup. I squirted lemon juice on the crab to eliminate any fishy taste ( i do this to all my seafood). Then I added 2 shakes of cayanne and 3 tablespoons of horseradish. I baked it for 15 minutes, and then topped it with shredded cheddar and monteray jack cheese and baked it until the cheese was lightly golden. With these chages it is a def. 5 star recipe. I think this is a great starter crab dip. Thanks for posting.

Mexican Pizza I

Reviewed: May 2, 2003
This was great. The only thing I changed was I wanted more Taco Bell like Mexican Pizzas, so I spread the beans on the tortilla, topped that with meat, then addd another tortilla and covered that with cheese and baked for 10 minutes. Then I topped them with sour cream, salsa, and jalapeno peppers. Great recipe even without the changes though :) Thanks

Prune and Olive Chicken

Reviewed: Mar. 9, 2004
This is def. classic chicken marbella. Just like my Mom would always make for me. Don't be scared of the ingrediants...I am NOT a prune fan, but this is the best chicken ever. I always reserve the sauce it cooks in and serve it in a bowl on the table to dip the chicken in. To me it is better when you add the brown sugar and the wine to the marinade instead of just sprinkling it over the chicken before it bakes.

Clemons Family Bean Dip

Reviewed: Nov. 21, 2003
I am re-reviewing this recipe, because I made it again this weekend and WOW!!! I already gave it 5 stars, but I did it wrong! Make sure to add the jalapenos with the juice, it totally cuts the heat and gives it an amazing!! flavor. This is the BEST dip ever. also, tray adding a half a pound of hot sausage to this dip...makes the flavor even better!! thanks for an awesome (ie the BEST) warm chip dip I've ever had!!!!!

My Mom's Lasagna

Reviewed: Jul. 18, 2003
WOW WOW WOW!!! I would give this 10 stars if I could. My mother made this recipe for my birthday party last night and it was amazing! My entire family (even the picky ones) raved over this. The only thing she changed was making one large casserole instead of two. We used some of the extra marinara sauce to dip the garlic bread in (I made Great Garlic Bread from this site). SO GOOD!! She let the sauce stand in the fridge for 2 nights so the flavors would really meld! Thanks so much for this wonderful recipe. It is now a family favorite. :)

Better Slow Cooker Robust Chicken

Reviewed: Apr. 1, 2003
This was AWEFUL!! WAY too much wine. The chicken while tender, was a yucky grayish color, and tasted like red wine. I threw it out after 2 bites and my boyfriend and I ordered a pizza. Sorry

Chili Dog Casserole II

Reviewed: Feb. 22, 2011
OK.... this was AMAZING!!!!! I read alot of reviews before I prepared this. I found this recipe because I was looking for a new way to use up some leftover homemade chili and this was fab!! Only thing i changed was boiling the hotdogs (i used turkey dogs for less fat) then searing them with a little texas pete (we love spicy food) and heating up my homemeade chili. I used whole wheat tortillas to cut even more fat and placed a small amount of ketchup and cheese on the tortillas b4 placing the hotdog in and rolling them up. My husband (who prefers much healthier cusine) ate 2 and loved it!!! Will def use this as a new way to use leftover chili! Thanks for an amazing recipe!!!!!!

Jalapeno Popper Cups

Reviewed: Feb. 17, 2011
My husband and I thought these were to die for!!!! I also used the tostito scoops b/c I already had them on hand and prefer the taste to phyllo cups. I made two batches, one with fresh jalapenos and one with jarred and preferred the jarred ones because they were hotter and not "crunchy" and they were perfect ;) thanks for a great recipe thats delicious, spicy and easy!!!

Burrito Pie

Reviewed: Dec. 2, 2003
I thought this was wonderful! I read a lot of the reviews before preparing this, and the number one complaint was that the meat wasn't spicey enough. So I added a few beef bullion granuoles, a splash of red wine, some cayanne pepper, and about a half pkg of taco seasoning to the meat mixture. I had no problems with soggy tortillas, I did overlap them. Also, I used the mexican cheese, as I don't care for Colby. THis was an easy and fab. meal that my husband loved and that I will prepare again soon! I also thought it cut well. I let it cool for about 10 minutes before cutting into it and it cut just like a lasagna. Beautiful presentaion garnished with jalapenos and sour cream and a little extra salsa. Served with chips to scoop up the extra filling! The leftovers were wonderful as well. I thought about cutting the recipe in half and I am so glad I didn't. Between 2 dinners and sharing with a few co-workers at lunch its all gone! THanks for a great recipe!!

The Best Taco Dip

Reviewed: Feb. 24, 2011
SOUR CREAM: TO BAKE OR NOT TO BAKE: I decided to make this instead of my standard mexican dips for a party since it's cold out and bc I wanted to try something new! After reading all the reviews I could not decide whether to bake the sour cream on the dip or 2 layer it after baking so I decided to make 2 smaller dips and taste both!! (plus I hate when people review a recipe after changing it!!!) The first I made almost exactly as stated (I spiced up the meat mixture some bc it wasn't quite spicy enough for us). I found layering cold sour cream onto the hot meat 2 be difficult. Next time i will sit the sc out &/or stir it while making the meat mixture. I did forget to put the jalapenos tomatoes and onions on b4 baking :( & wish i had done that. WIll next time. Result: Very good!! The other one I layerd the meat w/tomatoes green onions and cheese and baked it then topped it with sour cream mixed with taco seasoning (YUM) & more veggies. It wasn't as pretty but tasted even better to us!!! My opinion is : top the meat mixture with sour cream mixed with taco seasoning, layer jalapeno peppers (if you like spicy bc the over bring more heat out of the peppers) green onion and tomatoes, cheese then bake then top with more veggies (more jalapenos, tomatoes, green onions, olives etc) and serve with a side of salsa :) to sum it up.... Delicious dip whether the sour cream is baked or not and this dip will be put in rotation for mexican nights and parties! Thanks for reading my novel :)

Mexican Cheese Dip

Reviewed: Feb. 21, 2011
Im sorry to be the lone negative force here but this was awful. I was really looking forward to having broccoli in a spicy cheese dip (a family favorite) but this was bland and had no flavor. it was also soupy with big chunks. Maybe salting a peppering the broccoli before adding and adding some jalapoenos and green chilis would help but honestly i threw it away. Thankfully I was having an appitizer party so had a lot of other things to serve. thanks tho.

Spicy Shrimp Dip

Reviewed: Dec. 23, 2004
for the last reviewer. If it is too hot then adjust the amount of hot sauce you put in. It calls for 3 tablespoons so cut it to 1 1/2 or 2 depending on how much you want to lesson the heat.

Salsa Chicken

Reviewed: Nov. 12, 2003
WOW! I have never made a meal that was this easy that tasted this good. I mean really. THe chicken was done...juicy, and VERY tasty. I was a little hesitant because my husband does not care for spicey foods but this was great. I used medium salsa and coated the chicken he would eat lightly with the taco seasoning, and coated mine heavily and added jalapeno's on top of the sour cream on mine. This is a perfect recipe. Tasty, simple and very "pretty". The red sauce, cheese, sour cream and jalapeno's (on mine) were so colorful that it looked GREAT on a plate. I would serve this for company. Thanks so much for the great recipe!! I would give it another star if I could.

Mexican Cream Cheese Rollups

Reviewed: Oct. 21, 2003
This was really good! and a nice change of pace from the usual dips. I, however, do not like olives so I used diced jalapeno peppers and diced (small and drained) tomatoes and served it with salsa for dipping. Guess i changed the recipe a lot but WOW!! these are great and I guess you could easily fill them to suit your tastes! Thanks so much for a great tailgate recipe!

Cincinnati Chili I

Reviewed: Oct. 19, 2010
My family and I are huge chili fans, inface i think I have around 10 recipes that are variations of chili so when I saw this I had to try it... It must be a taste thing but none of us liked the mixture of spices... then cinnamon (which we love) and cloves did not mix well with the other flavors... very dissappointing. sorry but I would only suggest trying this if you already know you are a fan of the flavors and not if you are a chili fan...
