My name is Alissa. I just recently moved into an apartment with my boyfriend, and I am trying to learn how to cook! I used to cook before this, but only for myself..now I have someone to impress!

My grandmother cooks amazing Italian food, I hope to carry on her tradition!
My cooking triumphs
The best meal I have made so far has probably been chicken stuffed with cheese cooked in wine. (My mothers recipe)
My cooking tragedies
Too many to list! The worst was when I tried to roast a chicken. I didn't know for sure how long to keep it in, so I bought one with a timer--but the timer never popped up! I ended up cooking it for about 4 and 1/2 hours just because I was nervous it wouldn't be cooked through. Needless to say, it was pretty chewy.

Easy Pasta Fagioli
This was great!! I thought I was in for a not-so-good dinner tonight when I realized we didn't have any meat in the freezer. But, I found this easy recipe, and I thought I'd give it a try! I happened to have everything right in my cupboard, I just had to use shell pasta instead. I think adding red pepper flakes is a must, it gives it a nice spicey kick. I also added more chicken broth and less tomato. YUM! Thanks for this recipe!

Stuffed Peppers
I used ground turkey and brown rice, and I put the peppers covered in the oven while I was browning the turkey & cooking the rice. Then, I only had to bake for 30 minutes and the peppers were nice and tender. I skipped the basting, and I added fresh chopped onion and garlic to the mix.

Escarole and Beans
This recipe was great! It is my favorite Italian dish, and there are so many things to do with it. I added some cooked chicken pieces this time, but I really love Italian sausage in it as well. It is great with chicken broth and day old hard bread as someone suggested. I only had one head of escarole, so I used some frozen chopped spinash too. Wonderful!! Thanks!
