Great recipe. Easy to mix and to roll out. Used all butter and it was a success -- a keeper.

Sarah's Banana Bread Muffins

Reviewed: Nov. 10, 2010
This is a good banana muffin recipe, I found the banana flavor stood out. Based on reviews, decreased the sugar to 3/4 cup (1/2 brown, 1/2 white) and used white whole wheat flour with good results. Would make again.

Pumpkin Pancakes

Reviewed: Oct. 10, 2010
This is a GREAT recipe for perfectly fluffy pumpkin pancakes. I did half white flour, half white whoe wheat flour, and they were delicious. I had pumpkin pie spice, so I did one tsp. of that plus one tsp. of cinnamon. Great recipe I will use again and again. Thanks!

Pumpkin Bread VI

Reviewed: Oct. 5, 2010
This is very good, but I will add more spice next time (probably pumpkin pie spice) as this is just a little bit under-spiced for me. I added mini chocolate chips to this with great results.

German Pancake

Reviewed: Aug. 16, 2009
This is a great recipe - Simple and delicious. I did not use the syrup recipe, and I baked this in a 12" cast iron skillet. I dusted with powdeed sugar and served straight from the skillet with homemade jam. Will definitely make again.

Traditional Hot Cross Buns

Reviewed: Apr. 5, 2009
Really enjoyed this recipe... The dough rose beautifully and made a light bun. The only changes I made were using all currants (personal preference) and cutting the dough into 8 buns rather than six. Exactly what I was looking for!

Shrimply Delicious Shrimp Salad

Reviewed: Feb. 8, 2009
Very good! I omitted the onion and added a tsp. or so (to taste)of Dijon mustard and a splash of white wine vinegar for some kick. Served with freshly baked potato rolls at brunch. Was well received by guests.

French Bread Rolls to Die For

Reviewed: Jan. 18, 2009
These are quick to prepare and bake, but not "to die for"... Still, a very good alternative to long-rising French bread recipes. Used half the sugar when proofing the yeast, turned out fine. Would make again.

Spritz Cookies II

Reviewed: Dec. 21, 2008
Sorry, but I don't understand the ppositive reviews for this recipe. I followed it precisely and it turned out really bland. Adding salt would have probably helped a bit, but as is this recipe was a waste of ingredients. I give it two stars because it made cookies with shapes that held up nicely, but that is about it.

Chocolate Yule Log

Reviewed: Dec. 7, 2008
I had never made a yule log before and foudn the instructions/process much easier than I always expected it to be. I thought the cake and filling were delicious; I used my favorite mocha frosting to ice it so I cannot comment on the frosting. We foudn that it tasted better the next day after chilling overnight in the fridge. Would definitely make again, probably day before.

These were moist and delicious and smelled great while they were baking. They were a bit more cake-like than I had expected but still tasted great.

Cranberry Pistachio Biscotti

Reviewed: Sep. 1, 2008
This is a great recipe for biscotti! I was looking for a pistachio biscotti recipe and found this - I used 2 cups of pistachio and no cranberries. I also used white whole wheat flour instead of all purpose, and these turned out great. Just FYI, as others have mentioned these spread rather than puff up, so if you want a taller cookie make sure you shape your log a little taller and slimmer. Will be making again!

Key Lime Pie IX

Reviewed: Aug. 17, 2008
This pie was very quick and easy to make, but guests and I found it to be a bit too bitter. The zest gave just a little too much bite. I would make it again, but decrease the amount of lime zest used.

French Herb Bread

Reviewed: Aug. 14, 2008
Overall, this bread was delicious and I think the dough is versatile enough to use for other stuffed bread recipes. It rose perfectly for all rises. I changed the filling to include herbes de provence (personal preference) along with the onion which I cooked until soft in olive oil. I subbed the butter for 1/4 cup olive oil in the dough and it worked just fine. Baked for 15 minutes right on the baking stone and another ten minutes on the rack. I will definitely make this again and will try it rolled with other fillings (ham, cheeses, sausage, veggies, etc.) Thanks for the great recipe!!

Best Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Aug. 3, 2008
I have been looking for the ultimate chocolate chip cookie recipe and this is the closest I have come yet. These cookies are chewy in the center and crisp enough around the edges so that it doesn't fall apart. (Just make sure you don't overbake them.) Next time I may decrease the white sugar by 1/4 cup and increase the brown sugar as suggested here.

Fabulously Sweet Pear Cake

Reviewed: Jan. 13, 2008
This was delicious. Made in 2 8" round cake pans, did half oil/half applesauce, and frosted with cream cheese frosting. I let the cake sit out on the counter for about a day and a half before icing and serving, and it was incredibly moist. My only complaint would be that it lacked a dominant pear flavor. Next time I will puree more pear and use that instead of the applesauce.

Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Muffins

Reviewed: Nov. 24, 2007
I was looking for a basic pumpkin muffin and this one worked well. I added extra cinnamon and allspice after reading the "too bland" reviews. I have made this with the chocolate chips which is good, and also tried with chopped walnut instead. When made with the chopped walnut, I sprinkled some brown sugar and crushed walnut on top. Delicious either way.

Cranberry Applesauce Muffins

Good, basic applesauce muffin recipe that can be adjusted to your liking... I used half wheat flour half white, half brown sugar half white, almonds, less cranberry, and some rolled oats.

This is a great recipe, not too sweet and light as a feather. I also used orange extract, which works well. Thanks for the great recipe!
