Chicken Pot Pie IX

Reviewed: Nov. 7, 2008
WOW! I followed a few other reviews and brushed the crust with egg white, baked the bottom crust for 6 minutes before filling, adding 1/4 c. extra milk and chicken broth, boiling the chicken and veggies in chicken broth and adding my own spices (including herbs de provence, garlic powder, and thyme.) It was amazing!! Hubby adored it!!

Broccoli Cheese Soup

Reviewed: Nov. 5, 2008
Took the advice of others and decreased the butter to 6 tablespoons, added 3 minced garlic cloves to the onion mixture, used 2lbs fresh broccoli (chopped in my cusinart), used half and half instead of milk, and doubled the velveeta...it was good but WAY, WAY, WAY to rich. Next time I'll do everything I did except doubling the cheese....it's way too much cheese!

Apple Strudel Muffins

Reviewed: Nov. 5, 2008
I made some of the changes the other reviewers recommended including shredding one apple and dicing one, adding cinnamon and nutmeg to the batter a couple shakes of each, and doubling the topping and putting it in the middle of each muffin. It took them about 25 minutes to get done. YUM, YUM, YUM!

Burrito Pie

Reviewed: Nov. 4, 2008
Wow! I took the advice of others and added a few tweaks of my own and they definitely made this a 5 star recipe! Here is what I did: I doubled up the tortillas so the pie wouldn't get soggy. I didn't add the beans to the meat mixture but put a layer of beans in between the tortillas. I added 2 T. taco seasoning to the meat mixture and let it simmer 30 minutes. Definitely need more cheese with this recipe (I used double.) I baked it for 3o minutes and broiled it on low at the end to make it brown on top. With these changes it is fabulous!!

Good Flavor....but nobody said it was the best they ever had or anything...I was hoping it would have gotten good reviews at the weenie roast.

Cake Balls

Reviewed: Oct. 25, 2008
My balls turned out good! However to make 36-40 balls it took about 16 oz of chocolate instead of the 3 oz the recipe specified.

Wow, I loved these cookies! The only thing I did differently is added an extra teaspoon of vanilla and instead of the glaze I used the cream cheese frosting II from this site and sprinkled the finished result with cinnamon...great, great, great (I loved them even plain!!)

Super Sausage Gravy

Reviewed: Oct. 12, 2008
I love, love, love this recipe! You MUST use the Bob Evan's sausage...otherwise you don't get the nice blend of spices. I too double the milk and flour....my Grandma used to make this and now I do...and get RAVE reviews!

Downeast Maine Pumpkin Bread

Reviewed: Oct. 7, 2008
Wow...amazing! I took others advice and added 1/4 c. cinnamon applesauce and 1/2 c. butter to replace some of the oil...and added the cinnamon, sugar, melted butter mix on top....SOOO GOOD! I've also skipped the butter/cinnamon/sugar topping and added a bag of semi-sweet chocolate chips...YUMMO! I made 2-9x5 loaves and they were finished baking after 1 hr. and 15 minutes. Amazing!

Buttermilk Pecan Chicken

Reviewed: Sep. 29, 2008
Very good recipe! It was one of the most tender pieces of chicken I've ever made...the buttermilk makes it melt in your mouth! I used chicken tenderloins and turned them into chicken strips...they were great! I'll definitely make again!

Roasted New Red Potatoes

Reviewed: Sep. 29, 2008
Very good! I didn't add the garlic like others suggested because I didn't read the suggestions until after I had them in the oven...I definitely think that would have added alot more flavor! I will do that next time!
