About this Cook
Recently married, had our first baby one day before our 1st anniversary. I discovered that I wasn't thriving well on the Standard American Diet, and since we can't afford to shop at Health Food Stores, I've been learning to cook healthy, "close to the ground" meals from scratch. I love the way I feel after eating these truly nutritious foods, and I feel good knowing my family is getting better nutrition. (By healthy I mean less GMO, less refined, and more whole. Not exactly low fat low salt, just unrefined fats and Real Salt brand salt from Redmond, Utah. Check out realsalt.com.)

Colorful and Edible Play Dough
This was SO fun to make, and smelled so good! I had to add more flour than the recipe called for to get it workable.

Easy Black Bean Soup
This is a good recipe with some changes. I pureed everything after step 1, before adding some whole black beans. It would be very good pureed with no whole black beans. I did not like the lemon juice addition, and am glad I forgot it and only tried a splash in one of the bowls. I had a fluke with one (my last) can of black beans, and had to use a can of regular refried beans. It still tastes wonderful. Good recipe, thank you. Very hearty and heartwarming. Very good taste combination.
