Shortcut Refried Beans

Reviewed: Jun. 16, 2009
I have to be honest...it looks like baby food. BUT...it has a really good taste. For a shortcut recipe, I would make them again. I had a problem with them being chunky, but I put them in the grinder after cooking for a while and they turned out alot better. I also added a bit more seasoning. Thanks!

Becki's Oven Barbecue Chicken

Reviewed: Jan. 24, 2009
Excellent recipe!! I did change it a bit to our liking. I used real crushed garlic instead of onion powder, added a bit of fresh ground pepper and added 3 or 4 tbsp of Franks buffalo wing hot sauce. After the sauce was done simmering I poured half into a bowl with the wings to coat them. I then baked them for almost an hour, took them out broiled them on another pan until they were crispy and dipped them in the extra sauce right before plating. They were soooo good! My hubby loved them. The taste is amazing...I will definetly be making these again! Thanks for the recipe! :)

Macaroni Salad

Reviewed: Apr. 10, 2007
This salad was great! Like others, I did change a few things. I didn't use the measurements posted at all, just "eye balled it", and I omitted the olives. I also used plain mustard, dill pickle juice instead of sweet and diced up a few pickles in there. Other then that the salad is amazing...love the dressing! I think I've found a new favourite!

Potato Leek Soup I

Reviewed: Nov. 9, 2006
This recipe was a really great start! I only put 2lbs of potatoes, added a carrot, stalk of celery, a parsnip and let it boil. When soft I mashed it all. Then I sauted the leeks in butter and added a little bit of flour. When that was soft I added it to the vegetables and broth. YUMMY!!

Cheesy Macaroni and Beef Casserole with Thyme

Reviewed: Oct. 25, 2006
Okay all....this recipe is a good idea but WAY to bland for my taste!! I would make the following changes 1. MORE CHEESE!! You can barely taste any cheese 2. NO THYME...or a lot less of it. It's so strong...to me it tasted like macaroni and thyme! (I don't like thyme so I would leave it out.) 3. MORE BEEF! You can't taste this either. 4. GARLIC! This would add a great flavour to this dish. 5. LESS FLOUR...it wasn't saucy at all..just too thick. All in all the idea is good it just needs to be worked on a little bit!

Chocolate Fudge Buttercream Frosting

Reviewed: Aug. 1, 2006
I LOVE THIS ICING!!! I took a cake decorating course and tried many different chocolate buttercreams and none even came close to this one!!! I used a dark chocolate fudge sauce and it turned out awesome. I did add more icing sugar to make it thicker for piping docorations. I highly recommend this to any chocolate lover!!

Cranberry Muffins

Reviewed: Nov. 3, 2005
I didn't really like these muffins...I think there were too many cranberries. If I ever made them again I would put less cranberries and a little bit more sugar.

Creamed Peas and Onions

Reviewed: Sep. 13, 2005
I loved this recipe! My husband doesn't care for peas and even he enjoyed it. I fried my onions first with the butter and then added the flour. I also used canned peas and added bacon. It was great and I'll definetly make it again.
