Apple Brownies

Reviewed: Oct. 3, 2009
The key to a denser, more brownie-like bar is to NOT whip the egg mixture. The fluffier it is, the more cake-like the finished product will be. I melted the butter and just stirred in the sugar and egg until well-combined. Very good! Could use some extra spices, perhaps. Thanks!!

Sticky Monkey Brains

Reviewed: Sep. 2, 2009
I...cannot...stop...eating...this!!! I used one tube of "jumbo" biscuits...and scaled the recipe for 4 servings. Being short on a bundt pan, I used one round cake pan lined with foil (based on another review) and it turned out great. Thanks a million!!!

BBQ Pork for Sandwiches

Reviewed: Aug. 2, 2009
I used boneless country ribs, as that was all I could locate at the grocery store in a hurry. Rubbed with pepper, some garlic powder, and a bit of salt...cooked with the broth for 8 hours. Used Jack Daniels BBQ sauce. Turned out wonderful! Thanks!

Frosted Grapes

Reviewed: Jun. 3, 2009
These are so good! I bought some green grapes and the skins were a bit more bitter than normal. So I rinsed and allowed to drain in a collander for a bit, then mixed them in a bowl with a packet of cherry jello. Instant difference. They're like...candy! Thanks for a really good idea! :-)

This was easy and seemed to go over well. Served with fried tortilla strips and cheddar cheese.

Soooo good and quick. I replaced the oil with margarine for moistness. But otherwise, no changes! Keeper!

Easy Lemon Cake Cookies with Icing

Reviewed: Apr. 29, 2009
Awesome! I hate to admit I changed anything, but all I had was a white cake mix. Added some lemon zest and 1 tsp. lemon extract to the batter to compensate and to add some zip. Perfect and easy!

Added some water and olive oil to the food processor to get a good consistency...also added more garlic than called for. Very good! :-)

Good, quick, different. Made as a side dish instead of the usual mashed potatoes. Much easier! Thanks!

Peach Muffins

Reviewed: Feb. 28, 2009
I made this as a loaf. Tasted GOOD, just not as PEACHY as I would have liked. The cinnamon could probably be reduced a bit. Very moist on the inside and crusty on the outside, so a good quick bread recipe overall...just not a lot of fruit flavor, if that's what you're looking for!

Roast Sticky Chicken-Rotisserie Style

Reviewed: Feb. 23, 2009
I had a 7 lb. roaster so that's what I used for this recipe. It baked for about 5 hours at 250, and then I cranked it up to 350 at the end for about 20 minutes to get it done in time for dinner. It was about falling apart, and my husband loved it. I'm not afraid to roast a chicken anymore! Thanks!!

Vegetarian Chili

I cut this in half, because it makes A LOT. Just threw everything in the slow cooker and let it go....came out GREAT. Even my carniverous husband liked it, which is a small miracle. Bravo!

Brown Sugar Spiced Shortbread

These were good, but I think they need an icing drizzle or something. Just an extra sweetness....very tender though.

Bread Pudding I

Reviewed: Jan. 26, 2009
Oh is this good...I threw it together at the end of a fairly stressful day. It's comfort food at it's best. Just based on personal taste I increased the cinnamon and omitted the nutmeg. I'm keeping this one!!!

Pork Chops a la Slow Cooker

Reviewed: Jan. 22, 2009
I made this exactly as written except for the addition of a little garlic and onion powder to the dredging flour. Cooked for the full 8 hours and they were tender enough to be falling apart. My husband scarfed them down and thought they were wonderful. :-)

Gotta say...for the few ingredients and ease of this recipe, it's phenomenal! Made exactly as written and it turned out cakey on top and gooey on the bottom. Perfect!

Cheddar Tomato Dumplings

Reviewed: Jan. 14, 2009
So...I HATE being that person that changes the recipe and then rates it. May the AR gods strike me down, for I have sinned. That having been said, I had jarred spaghetti sauce and that's what I used for the sauce portion of this recipe. It turned out really good! VERY filling meal. Thanks so much for the idea...and the biscuit portion was divine.

I passed this recipe along to my mother, who made it for Christmas brunch. It's FANTASTIC...almost like a rich bread pudding. I can't wait to make this myself! Bravo!
