I am happily married to Vernon, we have 6 grown children (one girl and 5 boys) and 4 grandchildren. I am a happy follower of the Lord Jesus Christ. My most favorite book is the Bible, which I truly like to study.

I like to cook all kinds of foods and most of my children like to cook too.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I bake a treat each week for a men's Prayer meeting that my husband has in his body shop. What fun! They like just EVERYTHING! They gather in a circle and sit on empty cans or lawn chairs, share, pray and learn at the feet of Jesus.
My cooking triumphs
100% whole grain bread that is very delicious and crusty round bread that always turns out just right!
My cooking tragedies
I can't think of any but I know there were lots of them!!

Jewish Apple Cake
I just made this cake today and HAD to taste it before it even cooled off much. It is just yummy! I only used 1T of cinnamon. It was just right. Can't wait to share some with friends, it's too much for just the two of us! Thanks!

Whoopie Pies VIII
The 5 stars are for the cookies they are very good, I tried another recipe and this is better by far. And now for the frosting, it was fine until I added the beaten egg whites which didn't fold in so I beat them in. Does the powdered egg white make a difference? Anyway...this filling is much nicer than the marshmallow cream one which is too sweet. God bless.

Beaker's Vegetable Barley Soup
I have made this soup several times and it is excellent! I use home canned tomato juice or tomato and canned vegetable juice. Also I have never used the zucchini, mainly because I never have it on hand. Also, if you use 1/2 the barley it won't be so thick. I use the quick cooking kind and just put it in later. The last time I made it I added some shredded cabbage. It is always good. Yum!
