All American Apple Pie

Reviewed: Apr. 11, 2014
Delicious! The crust was very easy and tasted great, even with my olive oil for veggi oil substitution. The crumble on top was the perfect consistancy. The apples I used were monsters, so I only needed five instead of all six the recipe called for. A simple yet flavorful pie.

Hot Apple Cider

Reviewed: Dec. 22, 2013
I have made this cider twice and it was a big hit both times at my parties. I didn't bother with a bag and just let the spices and peels float around in the pot. Had to leave out the allspice and I used 1 tsp ground cinammon instead of a stick and 1/4 cup of brown sugar instead of maple syrup. The ground cinammon clumps at first, but disolves as the cider gets hot. When I cut the peels,I made sure to use as little of the white part as possible to avoid bitterness. Some of the peels were almost translucent they were so thin. Mixed with red wine, this cider makes an excellent vin brulè as well. Enjoy!

Triple the Ginger Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 22, 2013
Delicious! I'm a big fan of Trader Joe's triple gingersnaps and these had the same bite and flavor, but were much softer and airier. Like another reviewer, I rolled the 1" balls in raw sugar before baking. I also had to leave out the molasses and fresh ginger, but the cookies suffered no loss of flavor. They were a big hit at my Christmas cookie party and I can't wait to make them again.

Delicious! The batter was a bit think for me, so I added a little more milk. They had wonderful consistency and were very easy to make.

Key Lime Cookies I

Reviewed: Oct. 15, 2010
I'm afraid I didn't care for these. I noted that stickiness might be an issue, so I just used a spoon to shape balls on the cookie sheet and didn't have any problems. My biggest disappointment was the texture of these cookies, which seemed very light and almost cake-like. Since I look for a denser, slightly crispy texture in a cookie, this recipe was not for me.

Carnation® Quiche Lorraine

Reviewed: Apr. 7, 2010
I loved this quiche! It is ridiculously simple and is now a requested family favorite. I've tried it with lots of toppings and it works well with all, though if I cook it with ham, I won't add extra salt. If you like quiche, I definitely recommend this recipe.

Chicken Cordon Bleu II

Reviewed: Apr. 7, 2010
I'm probably the only one who didn't like this, but I thought the paprika added an odd taste to the whole thing that I didn't enjoy. The sauce did not make the chicken better and this method of cooking caused all the cheese to melt out into the pan, instead of staying in the roll. This is not a recipe I want to try again.

Ultimate Cranberry Pudding Cake

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2009
While this cake looked very pretty, it did not taste as good as I was hoping. It had an odd texture and even the butter sauce didn't add enough flavor for me.

Chocolate Pear Spice Cake

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2009
This was a big hit at my Christmas party. The arrangement of the sliced pears on top looked so beautiful too! I don't know if it really needed the chocolate, but everything else was delicious!

Delicious Ham and Potato Soup

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2009
This was my first attempt at making soup and it was easy to follow and delicious. I would add more celery next time and possibly some other veggies and a bit less salt, but those are the only changes I would want to make.

Country Quiche

Reviewed: Jul. 26, 2006
My husband and I both really liked this. I'm very glad this recipe was the first quiche he's eaten. I used a medium-sized shallot instead of an onion and 2 tbsp of real bacon-bits instead of making bacon. I loved the blend of cheeses and will try it again in the future w/ more gourmet cheeses and different additions to the filling. I didn't have a problem with the filling/pan size; it all fit perfectly in a regular-sized frozen pie crust. I cooked it for 36 minutes at 350, which seemed a bit long to me, so I'll bump the heat up a bit next time. Thanks for a very easy and tasty recipie!

Red, Juicy, Herb-Fried Tomatoes

Reviewed: Apr. 21, 2006
I made these several times in the past 2 weeks. I used smallish roma tomatoes, seeded and left to drain on a paper towel, since another review warned they could be over-moist and I hate the seeds anyways. I initially halved the recipe, but had enough for 4 roma tomatoes. They smell beautiflu when cooking and the taste of all the herbs is not as strong as it my seem. A great, very easy way to add veggies to my breakfast.

Mahi Mahi with Onions and Mushrooms

Reviewed: Feb. 17, 2006
I tried this using shallots and ahi. I thought the sauce was very tasty, but it wasn't the best pairing with ahi. I will try it again on a different type of fish or meat.

Classic Tiramisu

Reviewed: Sep. 25, 2005
I must have done something really wrong because mine was incredibly chunky, gritty(the sugar never properly got absorbed by the eggs) and milky as the same time. I've made delicious tiramisu lots of times from a different recipe and will go back to that.

Texas Coleslaw

Reviewed: Sep. 21, 2005
Wish I'd read the reviews first! It was way to much for me, but my husband said it was the best coleslaw he'd ever had. I will try again with 1/2 the spices(especially the cumin) as suggested.

Apple Raisin French Toast Strata

I didn't have the time to let mine soak 2 hours, but it was so tasty! The perfect combination of flavors and it smelled like cinnamon buns while cooking.

Grenadian Spice Cake

Very tasty! Mine got a little crispy after 80 minutes, but I think it's my oven. Had it with strawberries and kiwis & it was delicious.
