Eggnog Cookies I

Reviewed: Dec. 25, 2005
Yum! My boyfriend couldn't keep his hands off of these! I took advice from some of the other reviews and made a few changes. I cut the spices down by half and upped it to 3/4 c of eggnog. I also made eggnog frosting using powdered sugar, eggnog and a pinch of nutmeg and cinnamon. I dyed the frosting bright yellow to make them a bit more cute.

Baked Brie with Caramelized Onions

Reviewed: Dec. 25, 2005
Awesome recipe! I made it for a Christmas Eve dinner and everyone was quite impressed with it, though it was SO easy. I didn't bother with the apples, I didn't want a 'sweet' brie recipe. Some 'brie-newbies' might wonder about what to do about the rind. All a personal preference thing. I personally think the texture is a little gross, so I don't eat it. Some will argue that the rind is where the best flavor is. What I did was cut the top rind from it and leave the rest, that way I could easily scoop the tasty inner cheese from it.

Chocolate Covered Potato Chips

Reviewed: Dec. 25, 2005
Just as good as the kind you buy in candy stores! I popped mine in the freezer about 5 mins to get them to dry quick. It was so warm in my house from the other baking going on!

Easy Chocolate Cake

Reviewed: Dec. 25, 2005
This is a great, classic 'made from scratch' cake recipe. Beware cooks searching for a moist cake like that from a boxed mix. This isn't it! This is a more dense, sturdy cake. Almost brownie-like without the sickening sweetness of a brownie. For Christmas I baked this cake, then layed mini peppermint patties and milk chocolate chips on top right out of the oven. After a few minutes they were melted and I spread them around the top for a marbled mint chocolate frosting.

Gramma B's Broccoli Casserole

Reviewed: Sep. 8, 2005
I love this recipe, I've made it atleast 5 times. I prefer cream of celery soup for casseroles, works great for this recipe. I also pre-bake the onion rings before I put them on top.

Slow Cooker Fifteen Bean Soup

Reviewed: Nov. 15, 2010
This is a good recipe for experimenting with a bag of 15 bean soup. Instead of ham hocks and bacon, I use a pre-cooked ham steak. I cube it and add it in the last half hour of cooking. Also, I add the juice of a half a lemon at that point.

Carrot Souffle

Reviewed: Dec. 18, 2006
I get rave reviews each time I make this. Just like the restaurants, I'm told! Be sure to cook the carrots until they are very, very tender. Makes it so much easier to get everything mashed and mixed.

Spanish Rice II

Reviewed: Aug. 17, 2013
This is an easy side dish or an easy meal with the addition of a protein. The vegetarians in my family enjoy adding cottage cheese as a topping to this. The meat eaters enjoy seasoned, browned ground beef along with it.

Ham Rolls

This is a great snack for a party, served standing upright in a short, wide drinking glass. Experiment with any type of deli meat you prefer.

Oil Pie Crust

Reviewed: Mar. 12, 2008
This is the perfect, quick pie crust. It is inexpensive and easy to make. Also, it is good for sweet or savory dishes. Mix the liquid ingredients into the dry ingredients until just combined. Over-mixing will yield an extremely tough crust.

Slow Cooker Sweet Potato Casserole

Reviewed: Dec. 18, 2006
How nice it was to discover a slow cooker technique for one of my holiday favorites! This turned out wonderfully. The only thing I will do different in the future is skip out on putting the extra butter on top. It was a little too buttery for my liking with that layer on top.

Hash Brown Casserole II

Reviewed: Sep. 8, 2005
Wonderful recipe! The only change I made was to use cream of celery soup because my mother is a vegetarian. The meat-eaters didn't seem to notice one bit!

Bev's Orange Chicken

Reviewed: Oct. 19, 2010
I really enjoy this recipe, although I do cut back on the soup mix and only use a half of an envelope. This causes the chicken to be much less salty and allows the orange flavor to come though.

Very tasty, light, and great for entertaining, although mine did not look as good as the picture displayed here. Sadly, mine looked more like the Leaning Tower of Pisa. Maybe next time I will get it right!

Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough + Cupcake = The BEST Cupcake. Ever.

Reviewed: Oct. 19, 2010
Amazing! Everyone loved them! I made a half batch them using a log of pre-made cookie dough and used part of the dough to bake tiny cookies used as a decoration. Also, I used Wilton's classic chocolate buttercream frosting recipe, found on their website. They tasted like they came from a bakery. Freezing the cookie dough is imperative!

Pineapple Upside-Down Cake V

Reviewed: Dec. 18, 2006
Easy recipe to please everyone. I've noticed that even those who don't get much of a thrill over sweets will love a slice of pineapple upside-down cake. What's great about this recipe is it looks like you went through a lot of trouble to make it but it actually couldn't be easier.
