About this Cook
I am 41, married to the most wonderful guy in the world and have a fab stepson and four dogs. They all seem to like most anything I make for them! Honestly, the dogs are the pickiest ones of all!
My favorite things to cook
Just about anything! I like using the crock pot for brisket and pot roast and I especially love cooking Jewish food, my moms recipes are the best, sweet and sour meatballs, chicken soup with matzah balls, roast chicken, matzah meal stuffing, kasha varnishkas, brisket, noodle kugel... there is so much!
My favorite family cooking traditions
Holidays, especially Passover. Lots of people think that food at Passover is not good but they are so wrong! Cooking for holidays with my mom is definitely my favorite tradition. She is teaching me all of her secrets.
My cooking triumphs
The first time I made my moms brisket recipe but did it in the crock pot. We had my husbands uncle and family over for dinner. Made him brisket and kasha - he could not stop eating and the next day he called his family in NJ and told them that I make a "mean" brisket. It felt wonderful!
My cooking tragedies
I have tried three times to make my moms chocolate bundt cake recipe and every single time it sticks to the pan and comes out a total mess! Baking is not my specialty...

Veggie Lasagna Florentine
This was amazing, everyone loved it and went back for extras. Per other reviews I left out brown sugar, used ricotta instead of cottage cheese and wilted fresh spinach instead of using frozen. I didn't use a blender to mix the cheese/spinach. I used extra veggies, cheese and seasoning to my taste, but other than that followed the recipe. Will definitely make again!

Salmon Fillets with Creamy Dill
I read the reviews and made a few changes per what people said. Instead of mayo, I used plain lowfat yogurt and dijon mustard. Did not have fresh basil but used dried thyme, basil, oregano and dill to make the sauce. Sprinkled the salmon fillet with salt, fresh ground pepper and garlic powder and spread the dill mixture on top. It was so good! I am glad we had extra sauce because I made roasted red potatoes and broccoli. My 8 year old step-son couldn't stop eating it and he loved dipping the broccoli in the extra sauce. Since it was yogurt and no mayo I figured he could enjoy a little extra and it got lots of green vegetable into him!

Super Grouper
Great recipe but per other suggestions there is too much butter. Intead of garlic salt I just used garlic powder and I used Old Bay instead of paprika. Did not use the mayonaise and I baked for about ten minutes, brushed on the butter and then broiled. It was wonderful!
