I just made this and followed the others reviewers suggestions about it being bland, so I pureed the garlic, 1/2 onion and serrano pepper and added it to the pot. I doubled the cumin and added chicken boullion cubes 3, to the pot and no salt. Well it was still salty, and spicy. I have started the second batch according to the recipe without salt, and 2 boullion cubes, no puree of onion or pepper. I'll see if this can tone it down a bit. I used one less cup of water since the first batch was soupy. I do think it does miss the fat, but if cheese is added, that should help out.
